Is this the one Chris did? I've been emailing him today about having mine done. Looks awesome.

No, it was at another custom knifemaker as I was having work done and another test knife completed for someone else that I dropped off yesterday, he doesn't do regrinds.

I am sending my S30V Military to Chris though to have it thinned out to around .010" to .015".

I have alluded to this in other threads, but, it is really something to ponder how the average guy will now be able to buy a world class steel in a pocket knife for ~$110 that just a few years ago would have required long waits and high costs going through a custom maker, if getting it at all. Kudos again to Spyderco and to Jim for his testing and sharing the results.

That regrind looks very nicely done. I am increasingly wanting to have someone thin out a few of mine.

Although in the long run it may be cheaper (and more fun) to just get a belt sander and a box of Peasant knives to practice on :)

Amazing, isn't it? I absolutely love this knife. As I've said before, this is the perfect knife for me. :)

Hi Sal,

Didn't see anything going on with the edge either other than normal edge wear. :)

To what do you attribute the improved cutting in rope? Is it because of thinning the edge to reduce friction or is it because of sharpening a second time? (I've read that after you sharpen a knife a few times it will hold an edge longer.)

It's blade geometry, that can make a huge difference.

Jim, what was the thickness behind the edge before the regrind? And after?

Wow, that's very thin after the regrind. It's very impressive that you didn't have any edge damage beyond normal wear. When I finally decide to get one, it'll be sent out for a 0.010" or so regrind.

I wouldn't go prying with it being that thin or doing anything stupid, but yeah it's fine. :)

Thank you for sharing your work. I'm told mountain climbers are starting to protest against rope shortage... :)

I've been thinking that maybe S110V would be a nice offering for law enforcement in the Police 3? Or maybe a Sprint run Police 3 w/S110V?
