Weight reduced to 132g.....

Regrind by Gareth Bull with cute mirror swedge & customized G10 scales & liners.

Perfectly centered tip.

Rounded & polished the ball detent shoulder and polished (using dremel tool with poly diamond spray) all friction contact areas, pivot & spacers - silky, super smooth deployment now.

Now to resharpen.....

Very nicely thought out and executed. Let's see the finished blade with a new edge, although I'm not so sure we can see much past that thin grind! Must cut with little or no effort. What edge will you use, angle & grit?

More excellent mods to this one, MadGenius! I especially like the Native-like swedge on the blade. Cheers, Radioactive :)

I like that mini swedge. I have a knife with something like that and it's really comfortable to put your thumb on the spine for certain push cuts. The geometry of the manix doesn't lend itself to that, but still it's cool.

Thank you Sal and all of you for the kind words.

Yes, I am now really proud of my Manix 2.

...but will it oust my Native 5 or PM2 for pocket time?.....time will tell.

I'm not sure k would have rounded the tang/ball face like that. I don't know for certain but I think creating that sharp edge was a CQI thing to help prevent the lock from disengaging under impact and vibration. That's my guess, and I'm going by comparing an older M2 with a newer M2 and it was a significant difference. It probably won't make a difference unless you spine whack it or baton with it.

EDIT:

Never mind you rounded a different part than I was thinking of...looks great.

Great job.
I would love to see Manix XL in the same configuration as a production model.

That looks terrific Rookie! If it doesn't kick the Native 5 out of your pocket, perhaps it could kick one of my knives out of my pocket. ;)

I wasn't really expecting much while clicking on this thread, but I was pleasantly surprised by the ingenuity of this, MadRookie. Good work! (And it reminds me that I need to acquire some Nano-Oil.)
