Resilience w/Punisher Half Skull Inlay... WIP

#1

Post by BOOMER52 »

I finally got around to mapping the Punisher half skull onto my Resilience. I've done a good many of these inlay scales but for a different model of knife. This is the first set for the Resilience.

So first we have the CAD Preview rendering. Proposed colors will be black G10 w/red G10 half skull inlays... on both the presentation and clip sides. Predator Plate texturing...

The next two pics are after I've machined the pockets to receive the red G10 Punisher half skulls and have epoxied them in place.

I then perform the remainder of the machining operations consisting of holes, hole pockets, edge beveling, texturing, and profiling.

This last pic is after removal from the tabs in the coupon and following a soap and water scrub to remove machining chalk. They're still wet in the pic...

Terrific looking (as always). I love seeing the process almost as much as the finished product.

Hi Folks!

Above Awesomeness!

Easily the best 'Skull Printed' scales I've seen in a long while.

Guess it would also be outstanding with the Skull in White or Safety Yellow or Lime Green.

That's the coolest design yet, but I think the skull needs to be white like the shirt.

The white is even more impressive.

Will you be selling those scales in batches? Perhaps making some for other models?

This was my first foray for the Spyderco brand... I have been machining these Punisher inlays on request for the Emerson CQC-7 and Commander. If I changed my business model and stopped accepting custom orders I could do batch runs... as it is I'm running a huge backlog with just individual orders.

In addition to the Resilience I have also mapped this inlay design to the Yojimbo and I have the CAD/CAM files but as yet I have not machined a set. I do not presently have a Yojimbo on hand for test fitting... so that's a COMING SOON type deal.

I'll attach the Cad Previews of a couple color combos for the Yojimbo. I'm now at the physical limit of my tooling and this is the smallest I can possibly machine the inlay. It has to do with the smallest inside radius of the inlay countour. The end mill has to fit into ALL radiuses or radii for both the inside pocketing AND the outside profile of the inlay coupon. I'm now using a very fragile .0394" 2 flute end mill which is the smallest I own...

I appreciate the reply. Thank you. :)

I'd love a set of Resilience scales with the white Punisher logo. (And I don't even own a Resilience model.... yet.)
