Agreed - absolutely grand edges - well done there!

I find a 1k edge just slightly too "smooth", but yes it is screaming sharp.

Thanks for the replies guys, the blue para is dedicated to fishing so I keep it between toothy and polished. Caly is a slicer with grit jumping lapped fine side of a double stuff and then .25 micron on balsa. It cuts cheese/bread/mail/string/other mundane things.

Not polished and praiseworthy, but scary and toothy and it makes me smile when I get to cutting with it! (A worn 220 grit)

Finally got around to working over the new Manix today. This steel really doesn't seem any harder to cut than 20CP or ZDP.

most any stone works in that steel. Because no matter how wear reusstant the steel gets, it's still steel and softer than your average abrasives

Don't remember if I ever posted pics of this one. I don't remember what the angle is, but I do remember setting the EP as low as it would go.

Very nice finish on that edge. In addition to the setting on the EP how the blade sits on the blade table will effect the angle. You know this. Given the variables I'd guess the angle is between 8 dps and 10 dps. Emphasis on "guess". Either way, the image on your edge is clearer than the boards and screw. :)

For a long time my yo2 was the only factory edge I ever kept cause it was so sharp. But sadly I chipped it which forced me to sharpen it. Here is the result
