Manix 2 S110V Blade Swop WIP Part 1
Anything is possible. They may or may not have current plans.Donut wrote:I wonder if they plan on doing S110V/G-10 or S30V/FRN or S35VN/FRN one of these days.
From studying some of the photos posted above it appears that the pivot bushing sticks out beyond the sides of the blade, so the scales would have to be pried apart somewhat before the blade and pivot bushing can come out. Apparently some of the rivets have to be drilled out before the scales can be pried apart.aquaman67 wrote:Why won't the blade come out of the S110V without taking the scales apart?

Hey MR,
Thanks and super good job on your illustrated takedowns.
BTW, have you tried to rebuild FRN with this kits? It seems to have D-bolt and torx screws to fix Delica LW version. I wonder if it matches.

The extra notch is simply just an entrance point to mill out the shape. Very similar to the circular holes sometimes seen on frame locks and liner locks. Why they changed the fabrication between the two I don't know.Johnnie1801 wrote:are the frn scales still usable and can you purchase new screws to replace the rivets? With the s30v I think that would still be an excellent knife, but that g-10 and s110v has the wow factor. How is the opening and closing action after re-assembly?
Congrats on a great new knife
btw, is there a reason why the s110v blade has that extra notch on the blade tang?
The pivot and scale design keeps the pivot captured until you remove the scales, so you cannot just remove the screw and slip the pivot through.aquaman67 wrote:Why won't the blade come out of the S110V without taking the scales apart?
Pulling the pivot doesn't release it?
I bought 2 S110V because I thought about doing a swap.
Great work MR. Looking forward to seeing how you reassemble the FRN S30V. Maybe we should at least call you Mr. Rookie, or maybe SS Rookie (sometimes sane
)
But look out... from your prior posts, your wife may think you've bought two more new knives
:D

Excellent work MadRookie.
I don't either, but my "best guess" would be that S110V requires either a different cutting method or a different grinding setup than S30V and that the extra notch and hole are necessary artifacts of that.nccole wrote:The extra notch is simply just an entrance point to mill out the shape.
