I've actually found a way to fix that "bunching" issue, on the G10 versions at least. What causes that is the spring catches on a hard corner on the plastic post that it rides on. (spring rides on a plastic post which is connected to the cage) A little bit of sanding to smooth the corners of that post and voila, perfectly smooth lock.

On this version both of mine bunch up like that, but it's no big deal. It *may* wear in over time if the spring can abrade that post a little.

Kinda difficult to take this one apart?

I don't know if its the plastic post causing this or what but on mine the BBL is difficult to disengage. It seems like its "stuck" when first trying to to pull back on it..takes a lot of force to get it started back..it smooths out after that though..

I notice on most of my CBBL knives (S110V Manix 2 included), the lock tends to stick when it's forcefully opened. At that point, it's very difficult to unlock. But once that initial stickiness is overcome, or if the lock is slowly eased into place, it can be (relatively) easily released with one thumb.

I like the Manix 2 series, but I have come to prefer the uncaged BBL. Much easier to operate, IMO. Compression lock even better still.

I tried again, and literally using all of my force I cannot disengage it with one thumb. I just got it though, and once it breaks in that might change

I couldn't agree more. !! I just ordered a manix 2 drk blue S110v from GP and they were so nice and like you they hand delivered mine to the post office becuase they had already been there . Should have mine by Wednesday or Thursday and I'm pretty excited . Thanks again and thank you Evil D that put light on this manix 2 s110v .
Now my manix 2 trans blue will have tougher brother to hang out with :)

Doesn't seem to be a problem with mine, but I wouldn't really notice because I use a thumb & index finger technique.

How do they compare with KW? I thought KW might have some connections to the factory since they have sponsored a lot of exclusives, but they are having problems getting these in stock. (Or maybe they are such a popular dealer that they sell out faster than everybody else.)

I'm sure. I've opened mine umpty-ump dozen times in the last couple of days, and I noticed an older Manix I bought used is noticeably easier than the others. Also, somehow it seems to be easier if you nudge the blade over a bit with your index finger after the button has moved just a tiny bit (I wouldn't push it against resistance if the button hasn't moved enough though because it might cause unnecessary wear). Reading the other posts above, it could be a minor variation in the way the spring is riding on its shaft, etc.

Yep that's the symptom of the spring getting stuck on the post. Fixed every g10 manix I've had that did this. They aren't easy to work on though.

I'm just going to let it ride on this one since you can't pull it apart. Doesn't bug me that much anyway.

Well I'll be darned- I can unlock one of my G10 versions with one thumb but can't unlock the other one.

I have or have had a total of 11 manii, and around half are smooth to disengage, the other half take some force. However, the S110V model is the only one I've tried to unlock with just one thumb.

Thats comparing apples to oranges..they are both great stores and customer service.

One area I will give KW the a big lead on is they have done a lot more Spyderco dealer exclusives..I could be wrong about this but as far I know GP hasn't ever done a Spyderco dealer exclusive?

My first one has a stiff spring but otherwise is smooth. My second one seems to have the same spring force, but the ball seems to get stuck in its position against the blade tang and this takes some force to disengage. I've thought about trying to lubricate it but it works well enough with thumb and first finger that there isn't enough incentive for me to mess with it.

Is it just me, I find this lightweight Manix closes with a much louder CLACK compared to the regular Manix, especially at the point when the blade is fully closed. The spring seems to be tighter too

It seems that way to me too. Maybe just the difference between the sound of FRN and the sound of G-10 plus the extra metal? I'm expecting the tight feeling to lessen as it wears in or maybe with some pivot adjustment later on.
