My first Spyderco

#1

Post by Tom.Y »

Hi folks,

have ordered my first Spyderco, it's an Endura 4 FFG Orange.
I'm so excited about this knife, the blade, the handle, the lock, and this wonderful color, i mean, i have never bought
anything in orange, i,ve got no clothes in orange and nothing else at home, but when i had this orange Endura in my hand
i was totally into it. I'm waiting for my black lanyard which i ordered also, want to make a nice one for this baby.

@Spyderco Company: thanks for making so beautiful, high value products which make me happy everyday ;)

cheers,
Tom

Congrats on the new Endura, Tom! :) I'm sure it will be the first of many new Spydies. ;) Welcome to the Forum, too!

Hi Mr Tom.Y!

Orange FRN Endura & Delica are simply the best EDC Workhorses from Spyderco.

I can see you looking for some more orange Spydie in your near future...

I think you would like it even better if you mounted the clip for tip up carry before the gimping onlthe thumb ramp eats the back of your hand up. Just a suggestion.
You'll also want that fancy lanyard pull at the top of your pocket where it can be seen and you can get to it.

Yeah we knife people like it tip up, hahahaha well it will also be easier opening the blade with lightning speed.

Thank you people for the warmly welcoming ;)
You guys from the US are lucky people, here in Germany it's illegal to carry a OneHandAction knife if it has a lock.
On the other hand you can carry legally a cutter. I don't understand the world
But i don't care, it's my edc, a tool, not a weapon.

@RanCoWeAla: That is actually a good advice, don't have problems with the gimping but for the lanyard it would be practically as you said.
@opusxpn: i felt that i had a better opening speed when i carry it tip down, but i'm sure i will test it both way for a while so i can find the best way, thanks for the advise bro ;)
@LC Kid: Amen to that bro ;)

cheers,
Tom

Welcome to the forum. :) Great first Spydie!

I carry tip down and have no desire to turn this thread into that debate again. :)

Different strokes for different folks.

Thanks folks.

@bearfacedkiller: Yeah, another reason for me to carry td is because it's a liiiittle lower in your pocket than tu. In Germany it's better when people
don't recognize a blade in your pocket ;)
I could buy a lowrider pocket clip but i really like the spyderco clip.

Yeah, I agree with you. We just had a thread drag on so long about it that it was like pulling teeth for me. People seem to be soooo opinionated about this topic. It is surprising how important it is for many people. The preference does seem to be for tip up. There is no right answer. It is terrific that the endura/delica come four way! Spyderco really does try to make everybody happy! :-) I really hope this thread does not turn into that debate again is what I really meant to say.

I carry IWB at 3 o'clock a lot and tip down works well for me there. It is easy to grab and keeps the pockets free for other things. I do it because I actually carry two knives. One in the RFP and one IWB. If discretion is your goal IWB may be an option for you.

who gives a darn how everybody carries their knives it shouldn't even qualify as a debate. That's the reason they are your knives so you can carry as you please, up, down, sideways, with clip, without clip. I myself carry some up some down some lefty some righty. Enjoy your knife that is what matters, great choice by the way, did I mentioned that again.

that's a good advice, will try that.
BTW i'm carrying it in the 5th pocket, this way it's hidden under the shirt, and because this pocket wasn't deep enough for the endura, i've slit the bottom.
And yeah, i'd do that for my endura ;)

@opusxpn: Thanks ;) i see you guys had a lot of debate about this in the past, for me it's new and i like to see how you handle your knifes, giving me lots of ideas.
But you're right, there are enough threads in this forum to read about it.

Thanks friends.
