That picture makes me not want to be human anymore.

It's either an absurdly over cautious interpretation of Australian law by that store, or they're making a statement. If chain stores in Australia are anything like those here, I'd guess it's the first. I'd also suspect there are places in the USA where it's against the law for anyone under 18 to purchase a knife.

That's just... wrong. It's funny, I remember the Crocodile Dundee movies where he carries a big Bowie knife. "Now that's a knife" What would Dundee think?

That's hilarious. And sad. Perhaps, "hilsadious" is the word I'm looking for...

Well, it's illegal here for a minor to purchase a steel or ceramic knife, but we don't consider plastic flatware to be "real knives". I've seen that picture before, but not being in Australia I have no firsthand knowledge of the story behind it. The propaganda I've read on the internet claims the way the law is worded there, those plastic knives are considered real knives and are subject to the same restrictions as deadly weapons.
I don't believe in safe queens, only in pre-need replacements.

Just the culture of fear being imposed on us everywhere around the globe. If we all as individuals were not so insecure in who we are fear could not grip us & drag most of humanity to their destruction.

What about paperclips? Those things are a danger to humanity. Think of all the eyes that could be poked if some kid under 18 got a hold of one and straightened it out.
Time for another :spyder:!

I'm not joking when I say that I've seen a plastic knife cut a guy to the bone when I worked at KFC. It was pretty nasty, and completely unexpected. Some of the cooks got into a harmless 'fake' knife fight, and one went to the hospital.

That's about what I figured. It's the same mentality that makes some stores back where I use to live in NY require their clerks to demand proof of age from senior citizens looking to purchase beer or tobacco products.
