ETHNIC SERIES: Iascaire 3.17 (IRISH)

Iascaire 3.17

Iascaire: Gaelic for "fisherman"

An homage to the brave and hardy souls who set out from the island of Éire.

HANDLE:
Three perfectly placed curves create the new Holy Trinity of ergonomics.
Color: The national color of Ireland. (Not green.) St. Patrick's Blue. A rather bold blue hue.
Material: Irish Sea tested. Fisherman approved. Introducing the latest in powerful polymers: WOOL-10 -- hardened wool mixed with Irish linen, a shot of whiskey, held together with the strength of Connemara marble.
Texture: the subtle, yet distinct patterning of an authentic Aran sweater. Quite grippy too.

(FYI: http://www.ehow.com/about_5050353_irish ... story.html)

BLADE LENGTH:
Iascaire 3.17 is no Caly 'tweener.'
Blade must be short enough to cut bait properly, yet long enough to easily slice the excess head off a hastily poured pint of Guinness. (Surfingringo, a lil' help here w/ blade length/fish pics?)

BLADE STEEL:
Hibernian One (aka H-1)

LOCKING MECHANISM:
The fabled, the mythical, the proverbial pot o' gold…. the "Left Hand Compression Lock"
Invented by Sal O'Glesser as a tribute to not only his back-lock-embracing loyal lefty customers (ahem…two words:The Deacon), but also to St. Patrick himself. Sure, St. Padraig never EDC-ed a ParaMilitary 2 in his day, but he did carry a staff. And he held it in his Left Hand! Need proof, it's out there: ancient statues, stained-glass windows, historic renderings…not so much random shamrock-ed St. Pat's Day greeting cards.

LINERS:
Skeletonized in fish form, 'course.
Inside surface of liners also laser inscribed with the Irish Fisherman's Prayer in Gaelic:

go bhféacha dia orm;
mar is mór an mhuir
agus is beag mo bhád

Dear Lord, be good to me;
the sea is so wide,
and my boat is so small.

POCKET CLIP:
Tail up. Left-side carry only.
It's a fish pocket clip, it's unapologetically odd. It's also actually a bass – the blue backed, silver cousin of the American striped bass, one of Ireland's most sought after sports fish. The tail hooks at the top, the mouth opens at the bottom. Fins tucked, blue scales enhanced. This grainy blue 'bassclip' design compliments the blue 'sweater' of the Iascaire.
Blue Bonus: ever wear a pocket clip and jeans?!
Clip material: CS-4321. Forget rigidity, massive amounts of BUOYANCY is what fishermen truly desire in a pocket clip metal. (Cliff Stamp, is it ready yet?)

COST:
MSRP $387 (AD birthdate of St P.)

Street price: $32 (# of counties in Ireland)

Sprint run pre-orders available
(immediately after Mr Blonde {left-handed} presents Iascaire 3.17 to the world).

Today, we are all Irish, honorary or otherwise. So add your comments, critiques, mods, CQIs, whatever. If you must cast stones, please make them of the Blarney variety. And please...

Keep it Irish. Keep it Lefty. Keep it real!

This is meant to be a "Happy St. Paddy's Day" greeting to all. If it also leads to a wee bit o' good craic, so be it.

A bit of good craic, indeed! Very entertaining. Thanks, from an Irish-American from clan Callan.
