Jim, how do the blade thickness/primary grind dimensions compare between the MT17 and MT18?

By hand or did you attach the stones to the SM?

MT18 ave is around .015" behind the edge.

MT17 ave is around .026" behind the edge.

Edge Pro.
Interesting! Thanks very much. I wonder how much the earlier 16 differed - probably a lot.

I would say most of the Mules are in the .025" range on ave...

Sal if you're still on this thread, thank you for making this knife possible. It is true functional art. Really impressed by this one. Can't seem to put it down. Feels sooooo fine in the hand.

I saw there was some available the other night and got my order in. Received a shipping notice yesterday, so the Mule family is complete again!

Thanks, Sal, for making these available to us.

+2 for me as well. I was really starting to kick myself for not getting them on the first release. Glad they became available again and I was able to score. Now to pick out another set of scales from Halpern. The red rosewood scales look interesting.

I've got the rosewood scales and though nice, I prefer others. The translucent and micarta scales really look great on this Mule. For those who haven't, do yourself a favor and look at the Spyder on the MT18 blade through a lupe. Really impressive. This knife is a jewel :D I know I've posted several times on this thread about MT18. I just can't get over how perfect it is.

The Spyderco logo is how all Taichung Spyderco's are. Very neat, I assume it is an anti-counterfeiting measure.

I noticed this on my first Sage 1 and had forgotten about this. Very neat indeed. Getting ready to order more of the Halpern Scales, waiting for the natural Micarta to get back in stock. The option 4 really feels great in the hand. :spyder:

Not seeing the usual shiny spots on the edge either so it looks like the HT is dead spot on....

People are going to very happy with this one I think.

NO it's not going to be like the K390 Mule performance wise... :D

But those who missed out are going to sorry they did. :)

Looks like it will be between S90V Military (60 RC) and the K390 Mule (63-64 RC) as would be expected.
