Makes sense, thanks.yablanowitz wrote:I don't know of any reason, other than maybe because a thread like it comes up every time something sells out fast and a bunch of people who wanted one weren't quick enough to get one. People always get up in arms over others buying an extra to resell for enough to pay for both instead of just buying one to keep and leaving the other so someone else can buy it at regular price. They cry "unfair!" and they may well be right, but there are much, much larger injustices in this world than a few speculators buying Mules as investments.
How many S110V Mules?

Just 1 this time. In the past I got 2 to take advantage of the free shipping. Then I would have one for the kitchen and one for the collection. Now the kitchen has settled down to using one ELMAX and one CTS B75P. I'm afraid the choices made by my wife were based on how pretty the scales are and have nothing to do with the steel. The only steel rejection she ever exercised was when the ZDP189 corroded a bit. I don't think this is a silly thread at all. It is sort of interesting to me. I also enjoyed the Deacon's flip story.

Having a poll to see how many people bought is no problem. But then you specifically asked if people were going to flip the knives, which is a very loaded question and typically leads to unfriendly posts on both sides of the topic (it's been debated ad nauseam and tends to lead to threads getting locked).Strong-Dog wrote:I think I'm missing something here, because I'm genuinely interested in how many mules people got. Why is this a silly thread thats beating a dead horse, and why should this be locked?
If all you actually cared about was how many people ordered, then why did you also ask about flipping? Whether a person is going to flip or not doesn't change their answer of how many they ordered. If they ordered two and are going to keep both, the answer is they ordered two. If they ordered two, and are going to flip one, the answer is still that they ordered two. If they ordered two and are going to flip both, guess what? The answer is still that they ordered two. The only reason to bring up flipping is usually because someone is looking to stir up trouble.

No one has to answer if they are going to flip them, and no one has to tell how many they bought. I was simply asking a question, why on earth would I or anyone else be unfriendly to someone if they are planning on flipping them? Its a free market, this is what happens. I was curious to see people's responses that they would freely post here under their own free will. If that would upset someone, then maybe the problem doesn't lie with everyone else, but with them.

Sorry if my first response was snarky, there have just been far too many threads about flippers and speculators in my 1.5 short years here that I get snippy whenever I see them possibly spring up.Strong-Dog wrote:No one has to answer if they are going to flip them, and no one has to tell how many they bought. But I bought two. One for personal use/outdoors stuff and one for my the kitchen. Although I've already got a K390 and a B75P mule in the kitchen so I'm not sure if I can keep using that excuse to buy mules :D

Sorry if my reply was snarky as well. I keep hearing about kitchen use, but I'd be worried to use my K390 due to its rust resistance. Maybe the S110V will find a home in the pictureInvective wrote:Sorry if my first response was snarky, there have just been far too many threads about flippers and speculators in my 1.5 short years here that I get snippy whenever I see them possibly spring up.

...FCM415 enters thread that's discussing flippers...
hehe jk
I got two just like the K390. These are special steels, I usually pass on mules altogether. Gonna get one 4v. K294 and 10v though may have to go for two. Why? OCD? I dunno.

I wouldn't be worried about the K390 and rust, I've been using mine since it came out and a patina has barely set in. The only thing to watch out for is under the scales, mine have gotten a bit dark but none of that scary red rust. Just a dark patina.Strong-Dog wrote:Sorry if my reply was snarky as well. I applied my entire user K390 mule with Flitz like I do most all my blades just in case. Honestly :o I've babied it though so far. Not to mention a backup that's sitting in it's box sealed. So no significant experience to report. I'll get to "thumping" on them sooner or later, mostly a matter of having too many blades. I cannot get these two truly uber steels anywhere and nowhere near for what Spyderco sold them for. Very grateful, too cool to just get one and not having kids allows me that luxury sometimes hehe.
