Only knife I have a duplicate of now is the PM2, I have the digicamo and brown s35vn sprint. The sprint is a safe queen, bought when I thought the PM2 was the ultimate knife.
Since then my tastes have migrated a little towards more pocket friendly and thinner grinds, so I actually don't have much use for the backup. I will probably grab the S90V Yo2 which will be a duplicate, and tempted to get the S110V mule even though my K390 does anything I ask just because I love mules but I don't plan to keep buying extras. I find that if I only have one of a model I love I still use the knife and it forces me to do more sharpening.

I am now obsessed with sharp...just bought diamond stones for the sharpmaker but just can't be satisfied...looking at the EP Apex model now and this will eat up alot of my hobby cash for the time being. I know my edges on the SM will do anything I need, but why I think I need to be able to whittle hairs I don't know?

Waved Endura III by accident.
Howard Viele I on purpose VG10 versus AUS 8
Renegade and Blackhawk in different edge configurations on purpose

Only one I would buy now to have as a backup is a CF ZDP Stretch. Still believe it is the best one made to date.

I don't keep exact duplicates of anything. But I do have several variations and sprints of many models.
Military, Para 2, Manix 2, Delica, Endura, Native, and two Memories, one with the blue removed, and one original.

Only duplicates I own are PM2 variants, I'd like duplicate GB/Southard/Tuff all to regrind thinner and have some fun with.
M390 Para2, CTS-XHP Para2, CTS-204P Para2, Gayle Bradley, Techno, Bob T Slipit, M390 Mule, Southard, Southfork, Air, Tuff, ZDP Caly 3.5.

I've owned 3 each of the Para 2 and Manix 2. I've had 2 Delicas but not really interested in getting another one. I plan on buying two of the upcoming S90V Yojimbo 2 which will make 4 that I've had of that knife total. I have 2 Ladybugs, two Dragonflies. I will probably buy the blacked out Southard when it comes out, and most likely two of the Kiwi 4.

I would say the Endura and Native and Tasman Salt and other models as well as Pacific and Atlantic Salts are worthy of duplication.

All Spyderoes are so good..it is hard to narrow it down.

I usually buy duplicates and end up selling the spare to buy another knife that's threatened by extinction, lol.

I guess the fear of sharpening them to death is the main reason to buy spares (for me) but since most are factory sharp it's one of those irrational fears. :o

Good thread...
When I bought my first Micarta Caly Jr. I knew it was a winner & I wanted a back-up...done.

Ditto on the Gray Caly Jr. in VG10.

Same story on the Burgundy ZDP Caly Jr.

When/if Caly Jr. Sprint comes out I won't be making that mistake again...

I will buy them in TRIPLICATE or QUADRUPLICATE!!!

I have two Dominos, one a numbered collector's edition and one normal one. It is such a good knife I had to have two. I did at one point have two Enduras, but the second one I received was the super blue sprint, and I feel in love with that so I sold the VG10 one.

Only two that I have duplicates of are the original black Hawkbill Ladybug & the Cento 4.
Hawkbill Ladybugs we may see a few times more but it seems not for the Cento 4 & my work Cento 4 lives with me. Most used knife of all I own.
