For my X-mas i got a SS C08 Harpy with spyder edge from my Girlfriend. :o

Now i playd around with the knife and love the looks and feel. ( it makes me wanne buy a second one just for the collection :o :p )
But i'm used to carrying PE blades and also never handled a hawkbill before.

Now i got to cut allot of stuff testing it a little and find it amazingly good for wood, fabric, plastic and cardboard.
But for paper it doenst come even close to my PE's. I'm afraid it is even a little depressing :( it just wrips the paper to peaces instead of cutting .

Now i'm wondering is it me cutting in the wrong way. or is it just not that in to paper?

For paper I find getting it in one of the scallops and pull cutting the best. You will need to keep it within that one section. Takes a small amount of practice but will work.

Paper sharpness is going to come down to the specific edge of each scallop. Some are going to tear and others slice. With a rounded ceramic file you can give each one a bit of polish to make this better. I think Evil D used a dremel polishing wheel and got his serrated knives freaky sharp. :)

The Harpy and your other PEs are more or less opposites.

The PEs are good at slicing and clean cuts. Basic use is by pushing.
The Harpy is good at ripping. Basic use is by pulling.

My Harpy doesn't cut paper well either, but it goes through plastic bubble packs or seatbelts effortlessly.

Thx guy's for all the great reply's. i just ordered the 204 sharpmaker with extra fine stones. So i will try polishing it in a few days :)
For the rest i think i will manege to learn to cut with just one section. But i think i'm going to get a small PE (maybe a dragonfly) for an extra EDC because the harpy is just TO fantastic to kick it out of my pocket just for that 1 little disadvantage :)
