Top 3 Favorite knife/blade brands?
Currently
1. Spyderco
2. Spyderco
3. Spyderco
I tried other brands. I owned few BMs, Kershaws/ZT. None of them got to my pocket yet. All of them sold, except 561, which I keep, just in case. I have my SAK, which I bought and carried years before Spyderco, but currently I have no intension to buy any more SAKs. The only knife, which I regularly carry, except Spyderco is Moki Glory, which I like a lot. few month ago I bought second Moki. It is OK, but not more than this.

I don't have enough experience to really say who my favorite brands/makers are outside of Spyderco. I have one Benchmade (943) which I like but not as much as my Spydercos and their recent price hike makes them even less desireable. I do want to try a Zero Tolerance or two at some point in the future as well as a CRK. An XM-18 Hinderer looks pretty cool but at the secondary market prices they command, I would probably just go custom at that point. Curtiss knives are making some cool blades right now and might be in my eventual future, although also pretty pricey.
In terms of grails, I think a Brad Southard custom or RJ Martin would be at the top of the list.

I'm curious as to what Sal would say. I mean I know he loves his company and its products, but does he draw inspiration from other brands? Does he even use other brands?

I've owned SOCOM's, LCC's, CMTX5, MTX-2, Kestrel, Ultratech, Scarab and Troodon.... never had one fail. They're not Spyderco, but they have proved reliable for me.Officer Gigglez wrote:Microtech? That's a new one. I've had awful experiences with Microtech and I only hear bad things about them. Obviously you have different experiences with them.
I'll stick with production on this…
1. GEC
2. Case
3. Spyderco

I have owned a few CRKT and in fact my first expensive knife was a CRKT Stiff KISS but once i got hooked with my c05 SE Standard the frenzy started...
To this day i owned about fifty Spydies, 2 CRKT, 1 Kershaw, 3 Cold Steel, 2 Benchmade, 1 ZT, 1 Al Mar ( Warrior ^^) and i still own 35 or 36 Spydies... I guess that speaks for itself.

Spyderco with Benchmade & Boker distant second & Third
Very odd but also very interesting responses thus far on this thread  My personal top 3 are Spyderco, Benchmade and Boker. But do please understand that all the brands other than Spyderco take a very distant second and third place. If Boker and Benchmade would be as aggressive with their blade steel selections as Spyderco is then I would have a completely different take on it.
I am pleasantly surprised that Victorinox has taken one of the top 3 places in many peoples ratings here on the thread. I have always liked Victorinox's line up of products and for the price you really can't beat them in many ways. Victorinox multi-tools are truly my very favorite conventional multi-tool.
I do agree with the one Brother when mentioning Ka-Bar as being a great buy for the money and not bad quality at that. I also give honorable mention to Fallkniven, Cold Steel ( for their specialty blades and products). I also have a lot of respect for Al Mar and Buck as well.
Again my top 3 are Spyderco, Benchmade and Boker
