Hi guys, just asking.
Best Replacement for Spyderco Medium Benchstone
Sharpening setup.
Ordered - waiting for it to arrive.
Spyderco UltraFine 2x8
Spyderco Fine 2x8
------
I already have a Lansky Professional System
I want to try Chosera water Stones to cover my "Medium" Benchstone Setup.
Which should I buy.
Chosera 800 or Chosera 1000 ?
(other chosera lower grits are 400 and 600)
My goal is to conserve my knives steels. So I hone and strop when the edge is not that sharp anymore. And I try to keep away for coarser grits as much as possible.
Will the Chosera 800 or Chosera 1000 be a good replacement for the Spyderco Medium in my setup.
thanks :D

I know both are High Quality stones :)
but between the Spyderco Medium Benchstone and Chosera 1000
a) Which Preserves and Saves your edge more ?
b) Which produce a better edge ?
c) Is the Spyderco Medium Benchstone a Better Lower Grit "Partner" of the Spyderco Fine and Ultrafine which I have ?
Thank your for the replies

They are difficult to compare, apples and oranges, really. The waterstone has a weak binder so it cuts faster than the medium, but it also breaks down to form a finer grit slurry, giving you multiple grits from one stone. The brown medium Spyderco stone has very strong binder and won't cut as fast as the Chosera 1000 can. It will tend to load up and need cleaning to keep cutting the steel.
