I would go with a PM2. Its a great overall knife and wonderful slicer. I love the lock and the fine tip. I've carried and used mine at work everyday for the past 3 years and its performed flawless at cutting plastic banding, tarps, cardboard, and other misc things. I would also highly recommend the southard flipper if price isn't a huge concern thats the knife I've been carrying outside of work for 6 or 7 months.

Nothing is wrong at all with the Delica 4...in fact it is downright badass. However, when I am just breaking into the Spyderco market and "falling in love" I'd like to sample the market more. Its relatively cheap cost is one reason why I'd rather branch out now. I have some extra cash to spend so why not go higher at the moment. I think it is down to the Manix 2 lightweight, the Sage 1, and the Caly 3.5 now. Haha. I am just all over the place!

A very nice quality of the Manix 2 is the ability to open and close with a flick of the wrist. Just pull back the lock and you can swing it open or closed quite easily.

Had the lightweight manix, felt like a cheap toy. Had the regular manix 2 (blue sprint mind u) and the jimping was unnecessary and uncomfortable. Maybe for hard use with gloves it makes sense. Chaparal seemed like an amalgam of many other models and only stood out at all for its 'pimped jacket'. I can appreciate its thin blade though, even if it seems too short for its own opinion of itself, if that makes any sense. Handled a pm2 and have to say i hate hype and will typically try to prove things held aloft so greatly to be fluffy fanboy wank. The pm2 felt as well made, properly weighted and considered as my yo2 (which i recommend highly despite the steel) which i have found to satisfy my need for a knife to be constructed exceptionally. Cutting is a plus. As far as the sages go, i traded off the the sage 1 because there was no grip that didnt feel it wasnt compomising for another grip. The sage four however has slightly better ergonomics for my hand and is built impeccably. Impeccably. Yes its more expensive, but it feels like a horse.
With all that said i cant knock my blue delica zdp out if my pocket with anything short of the cruwear millie currently en route to my house, which probably wont knock it out for more than a week out of fascination with a folding longsword.

Don't worry... I still finger the hole every now and then ;-}~Sparki wrote:But but... that's what the spydie hole is for!
I also have a bright neon yellow ziptie on it for Emerson style deployment.

Just can't seem to bump it from my pocket.. almost feels like I'm cheating on her when I carry something else.
