New to the Spyderco world!
New to the Spyderco world!
Hey everyone,
So I've been a knife aficionado for sometime now and have had a bunch of knives from a variety of makers but never any from Spyderco.
For the longest time I thought Spyderco's were ugly. I prefer clean lines and classic designs - as a reference point the Kershaw Skyline has been of my favourite EDC knives for sometime.
Well I have a new favourite now - my new Endura 4 FFG.
Picked it up from my local Spyderco dealer in Vancouver , BC and man does this knife rock!
Great size, great weight, comfortable handle and the opening hole works better than expected - even tried it with thick winter ski gloves and it works well!
The ergonomic and traction on the handle and thumb ramp are awesome. Such a functional knife. Great design.
The looks of the knife are growing on me, I kinda like the non-tactical look in Orange that I have. Doesn't scream wannabe G.I Joe or anything. Looks like a tool not a weapon. I use my knives as tools.
The FFG blade works great for food prep too.
For a VG-10 Japanese made knife, great value as well.
I am now a Spyderco convert.

Welcome! They are great knives. There is nothing new or original about your story. Many of us on here have had the exact same experience...i certainly did. Spyderco knives can look a little different. That's because they are made to function. Whatever form that ends up taking is how they look. And you stated it perfectly. The more you use them and see how well they work, the more beautiful they become! People bounce around different brands a lot, but once you "get" what spydercos knives are all about, it's hard to leave. That's how I feel anyway. Enjoy!

Welcome. I'm glad you gave Spyderco a chance. I have met lots of people that don't think they are the prettiest knives and don't give them a chance for that reason. Then they try them and usually they just "get it" after they feel how they perform. Congrats on the new knife and again, welcome!

Congrats on your first Spydie purchase and welcome to the forum! I am thinking of reporting Spyderco to the DEA for slipping some kind of mind control drug in their knife handles or in the steel itself (they both are very infectious!). None of us can resist them either, you'll see, you'll be back in that store in no time. If you find yourself thumbing through their catalog, there's no hope left for you, but you are among friends here (and we like pics!)! :D
