Welcome to the forum, Mabogar. Where are you located?
Black Hawk, C24 initially released with aluminum handle in 1993. Then in 1995 released with a G-10 handle. For years I could not find one, then SFO (Spyderco Factory Outlet) last year had some for sale,
someone said that they found these during a move around in the factory. So I obtained one of the G-10 models, it's a nice knife and I carry it once in a while.
I think the mfg. sugg. list price was $89.95.
A good choice for your first Spyderco, consider a Delicia or a Endura as your next purchase as these are the most popular models in Spyderco's line of excellent folders.

Thanks guys, mine has the black composite handle (g-10 i guess). I dont know any thing about the metal the blade is made out of besides the name gin-1. What are your guys thoughts on it.

Mabogar,

The C24GP or GS was discontinued approx 1996 @ 114.95 retail. It has a G-10 handle and Gin-1 steel which was Spyderco's premium steel at the time - same as used in the C07 Police, etc. A great knife!

Last year Spyderco found some Blackhawk parts and did make a few more at that time.

The Blackhawk first appeared in the almite handled version like mine in the picture. The NOS(new old stock) recently reissued had some nice refinements. They added a single liner to screw the clip into. The clipside cutout was enlarged for better access to the hole and better comfort, and was released in a part-serrated blade. The original ones were either plain or full serrated.
While there is some resemblance to the current Native, the blade shape also reminds me of the Chinook. (no relation, I'm the fish)

Thanks guys, mine must be the newer one because it is a part serrated blade with one liner on the clip side.

I just picked up a Spyderco Blackhawk, the blade is marked GOLDEN COLORADO USA EARTH, GIN1-STAINLESS. Very little handling wear and no scuff marks.
I'm excited.

I have almost all versions of this knife.

My first went with me to the Riddle of Steel and the screws came out of the clip.

Still used it and got good feed back at the ROS about it.

The sister to this knife is the Renagade.

Any one got a pic or two here? I'd love to see what preceded the native. I've been carring one of those for decades.

Blackhawk & Renegade models paved the way

#15

Post by JD Spydo »

Like I stated in the other Blackhawk thread it was one of the very few Spyderco knives to have been made over in Seki City, Japan and Golden, Colorado USA EArth. I owned versions of the Blackhawk and it's big brother the C-23 Renegade that were made in both places.

I liked it's big brother the Renegade so well that I EDCed it for a little over a year until the C-44 big Dyad won my heart and I EDCed it for about 2 years.

There was something really special about both the Renegade and Blackhawk>> they were the first Spyderco models I know of that had G-10 handles.

The GIN-1 steel that John Jensen made mention of was not one of my very favorite blade steels but it was easy to tune up and keep sharpened. That's the knife that got me to carrying my Doublestuff stone on a regular basis.
Long Live the SPYDEREDGE Spyderco Hawkbills RULE!!
