Forum newbie
Greetings fellow earthlings! (and spyderco fans)
My name is Christopher, I am from the Northwest Territories, Canada, and I have been a fan of Spyderco and it's knives for some time now. I've only recently discovered their website and this forum after rediscovering my very first knife I ever bought for myself, several years ago at a local retailer. Yes, it is the Spyderco Delica4 saber ground in black FRN.
Since I found this knife going through my old items packed away, I have bought a green FFG Endura4 from Spyderco, and a purple FFG Delica4 for my sibling, so that one day, she can rediscover it several years later, still in perfect condition.
Yes, thats right, I had used and abused my Delica4 for years without sharpening it once! When I rekindled my passion for knives, I bought a simple Lansky sharpner and quickly put a hair-whittling edge back on it. I soon took my new-old Delica4 out camping and again, abused it some more. I used it as a throwing knife, and it quickly got dulled from being immersed in sand.
This time, I took it home and did a complete servicing on this knife. I stripped the whole knife down, cleaned all the parts, oiled the pivot and phosphor-bronze washers, and put the best edge I had put on a knife ever!
To me, this goes to show the quality, and craftsmanship put into a Spyderco product ... There when you need it, and a companion you can depend on.
I plan on carrying my Spydies everywhere I go, and as long as I can. Future purchases include a Manix2 saber ground in s30v with black blade and black g-10, as well as a Para-military 2.
I am proud to say that I am a happy owner of two Spyderco knives, and a Spyderco fan.
Interesting story about my trusty Delica4: It has pretty well saved the life of one of my climbing instructors who had to cut a prusik off a rappel line because the man rappeling was well into the 300 pound range and got stuck. I tied my Delica4 to the rappel line and sent it down. The man was freed and we carried on the day with more successful climbs!
