Autonomy release

#1

Post by mikeh99 »

The Autonomy was announced in 2012. It even won the Blade Show honors (congrats). And it is in the 2013 catalog. But has anyone heard when it will hit the street? And it is ambidextrous too (big deal for us lefties). Thanks!

It won't hit my street ever due to being a restricted tool (fully auto). :(

I never cared much for the autos but the Autonomy looks sick.
But it's restricted so looks like I'll never get one. ;) ;)

I'm lucky enough to live in a state with no knife restrictions.

Hope the Autonomy comes out soon, but I wouldn't call it ambidextrous, at least not any more so than the Citadel and Embassy. That is to say, the clip can be mounted on either side, but the firing button and safety are optimized for RH use. Sure, you can fire them left handed, just like you can shoot a right handed bolt action rifle left handed but, to me at least, that doesn't quality as ambidexterity, it just means left handed people manage to cope in a right handed world. To me, the only truly ambidextrous autos are OTFs with top mounted firing buttons and reversible clips and DE OTFs with side mounted firing buttons.

Benchmade Axis autos work really well for lefties, like the Presidio. From the description I thought the Autonomy was going to be like that. Too bad. But, on the other hand, left handed people seem to have trouble with the PM2 and I find it easy to work. Maybe I'll be lucky. But until I get to see, feel, play with one I will not know.
