I keep mine in SpyderPac's, both the 32 Pocket and the 16 Pocket. I prefer the 16 Pac as they are smaller and easier to handle (32 Spyderco knives get a bit heavy). The Pac's are stored in dresser drawers. The Spyderco boxes are saved for future need if the collection is to be sold or traded. This method makes it easy to view and show my knives to friends.
I would like a Browning Gun Safe for storage of items of value, but there are 2000 reasons I don't have one and they are all $$$.

Since I only have 10 spydies and actually use most of them on a fairly regular basis, I keep them on-hand in a nightstand drawer and a clay pot on the dresser. I'm frequently wearing 3 of the 10 anyway. The rest of my knives I keep in two cardboard boxes.
Hmmm, display cabinets, now that looks cool.

I also use 32 slot SpyderPacs. I have 3 with two of them full of Spydercos. The other holds the occasional Buck, Benchmade, Chris Reeves, etc. Some overflow goes in a plastic Ikea tub in sleeves. Together they live in my gun safe downstairs. My edc Spydercos reside in a small set of drawers that sit at the head of my bed. Nice and handy.

Most of them are in their boxes, somewhere in an upper shelf of a wardrobe (my son is only 2 yrs old, he can't reach them yet).
But I do plan of making a display case hanging on the wall.

A followup to my previous reply once I got home and dragged everything out to take a pic...

Whoa ZREXXER, I thought that was a picture of MY collection...the RTAK, the bayonet, CRKT's, and of course the Spyders...
Anyway, I keep mine in a container with Dessicant packets. BUT, there are various Spyders around the house strategically placed for "just in case" reasons.
Aloha all!
God will put you over...if you let Him!

Mine are all over the place. Got some in my Dad's gun safe, some boxed up,and the rest in kitchen cabinets and drawers(dishes, cookware, wot's that?). Any I don't have boxes for go in Sack Ups rolls. They're made of silicon-impregnated cotton to protect from rust(you might want to look into them to solve your prob).
As for the kid, education is the best answer. I grew up w/guns all over the house, but there were never any probs because I was taught proper gun handling and safety at an early age.

If anyone wants an Excel Spreadsheet to keep track of their Spyderco Collection, just email me and I can send it as an attachment. Some of you allready have it. It really helps keep track of what you have tied up in your collection, and if you should lose it, it might help with insurance.

The Spyderpac is a large knife roll that is available through the Spyderco Factory Store. There are three variations available. I will try to post a good picture when I get a chance. The roll is made out of a heavy Cordura with clear windows to see each knife in it's pocket. It rolls up and comes with a carrying strap. Check your mail for the spreadsheet.
