I found just one for $225 including shipping and PP fees, US only.

Thanks
That sounds right around the price of one of the listings I saw.

I think everybody should PM and email friends who wanted one but missed out, so they can get on the list before word gets around and other speculators manage to get on the list. I have considered putting my name on the list to pick up a second one to pass on, at cost, to a forum member who misses out a second time, but this might just cause some other forum member to miss out.... any ideas about this?

P.S. The UPS guy just dropped off my Native5 & mule!!! :spyder: :D

9 out of 700 would be somewhat trivial. I thought I read on this forum that they were still shipping the knives and wouldn't be finished until later this week. How many people here have received their packages and how many have not? Maybe only 100 or 200 have arrived so far. Maybe it is 9 out of 200, or even 9 out of 100.

We need to realize that there is absolutely no "system" Spyderco could have used which would have insured that only good, honest, dedicated Spyderco fans who intended to keep their knives forever were eligible to purchase these knives and that everyone who was eligible actually got to purchase at least one of them.
This is Spyderco's forum, they know who the registered members are. It would be easy enough to sell only to the registered members. Of course we might have members of this forum that are scammers.

I managed to get one..by CALLING
During the 2+ hours that the website was broken I was also checking this forum to see what was happening and people were posting here that it was impossible to get through by phone.

PSST - bdblue, despite the fact that you keep whining about the website being broken for more than two hours when it most certainly wasn't, you have a second chance to get your hands on one of these knives. Cancel the call to the whaaaaaambulance and click that link Kristi posted up there. You still have a pretty good chance to get one after all.

For 2 solid hours it kept trying to tell me that my state didn't exist. Does that not count as broken?

Done. Maybe there are only 3 or 4 people on the list in front of me.

Yeah, I guess that never hurts. And for the record I didn't mean for that to come off as rude if anyone thought that.

I used the phone. It took 2 redials. My order was taken by a surprisingly efficient and cheerful SFO staffer who had me off the phone and my order placed in less than 30 seconds.

First call got through for me. About 20 mins after they opened. I was third in queue but my online checkout worked before my spot came up via phone.

It was extremely easy assuming people had access to a phone and the web. A three hour sell-out isn't exactly a Walmart trampling...

I didn't purchase mine until after 11 mountain time, and I had no issues whatsoever with the website. It was messed up for a bit, but after the initial fervor died down, there didn't seem to be any problems.

My response was a small attempt at humor, very small as they say.

I would make a realistic guess that there are 100 to 300 people in line ahead of me, and I don't think they have that many extra knife parts laying around. But I guess it doesn't hurt to get on the list. I got on the list at KW early for the green PM2, but the way they handled the list didn't give any preference to being on the list early vs. not even being on the list. (And when that one hit the website I was checking out within 60 seconds. Their website was clearly broken for almost everyone and they sold out before the website would complete my checkout.) I was hoping that the SFO would try to do better.

I managed to get one, already being used. Did see on the bay that someone was selling 4 of them. I emailed inquiring about/expressing annoyance. Five minutes later they changed the description and the pics. Yup. Thanks to everyone at Spyderco and other forumites. Rest assured I will put this one to task.

I hope all of you that missed because of the internet technical difficulties pick up the phone and call to put you name on the list.I think the call would have worked the first time around. It can't hurt to try and who knows you might get one.If you don't get this one then you can always go for the CF model from dealers when released.Plan ahead and be ready with a plan B(phone numbers)when the CF is released and I think you will have a good chance at landing one or two.
Best,
