Took a Bradley Air through airport security
I'm in Las Vegas for a guy's weekend. I put on a pair of jeans and found my Bradley Air in the pocket. Since I flew to LV that means I accidentally took it through airport security. Pretty sure this doesn't speak too well for the TSA.
BTW, I'm checking the bag on the way home.

Glad you didn't lose it to the TSA. As for your trip home, from what I hear, airlines charge though the nose for checked bags. Mailing back home might be a cost effective alternative. I'll refrain from making the obvious pun.

Correct, and that would have been my choice except I am a frequent flier with American and can check bags for free. The Deacon wrote:Glad you didn't lose it to the TSA. Very glad I didn't lose it to the TSA (or get hassled or delayed, etc).

For the return trip - One of the forum members ( sorry, I can't remember who to give credit to ) gave the tip of zip strapping the knife through the spyder hole to a zipper on the inside of your checked luggage or your shaving kit. I do this every time I fly, obviously if some one checking the bag was so inclined they could still get it off but it makes a little more challenging that's for sure. That said, I never travel with a knife I can't replace for fifty or sixty bucks, so UPS maybe be the best $10 bucks you ever spent.

Wasn't the Chaparral 2 supposed to be called the Chaparral stealth? If that was the name it would surely make it through any security. :)DRKBC wrote:First I need to apologize for this in advance, but I have to say it before someone else does. Maybe it was because it was a ... wait for it ... Bradley "Air" . Again my sincere apologies.

Or just pop in to the nearest Post Office. A flat rate box is just over 5 bucks.DRKBC wrote:For the return trip - One of the forum members ( sorry, I can't remember who to give credit to ) gave the tip of zip strapping the knife through the spyder hole to a zipper on the inside of your checked luggage or your shaving kit. That whole thing a few months ago where TSA was considering allowing knives on planes was dropped and abandoned.

Glad you made it without losing the knife!
It's amazing what the TSA finds every month. I think their website shows statistics on their finds. BUT, it's also amazing what they miss. I don't remember where I saw what their testers were able to get through, but it's more than you would think. Then there's the media story or hearing of someone accidentally getting something through. I'm a frequent flyer also, 15 - 18 days a month travelling by air. I usually keep my work clothes and suit case/back pack separate from home stuff in order to not accidentally have a knife on me. Occasionally though, after a personal trip, especially if we've driven, I do a little shake down on my stuff just to make sure. So far, it hasn't happened to me. :D I probably just jinxed myself.

Hmm. I made it through the TSA with a large bit of metal once. I think I left a screwdriver in my pocket or something. The thing is, it didn't set off the metal detectors... And I'm not sure how those random security checks of TSA works. I'm kinda getting the message that TSA is playing Russian Roulette to find the terrorists...
