Military CPM 440V

#1

Post by KenStevens »

Just unearthed my old (as in 18-20 years old) Military after it had been missing for about 5 years following a move.

Originally had an ATS-34 blade, but I somehow managed to break the tip off after about 2 years of ownership. I was living in Boulder at the time so I went to their shop and had it replaced with a CPM 440V blade. I can't remember why I went that route exactly since it was so long ago, but I do remember this much: Spyderco replaced the blade it for free.

I'll probably send it back there for a little TLC. Anyway, this just made my week.

When you say "unearthed" do you mean literally? Because it looks like you dug it up out of the ground. Should be ready to rock after a spa treatment.

lol - turns out it was sitting in a box in my parents' garage for 5 years, which is definitely not a climate controlled storage facility - about as "unearthed" as could be for not being buried underground. It was definitely well-used before it went missing and finding it reminded me how great Spyderco was when it came to replacing the blade - guess I'll have to buy another one now. That being said, I'm more of a gun guy these days, but I'm still beyond happy I found it.

Oh that me laugh that's exactly what I was thinking. It really is a cool knife though, I really like the blocky jimping I wish they still made it.
