EDC rotation
EDC rotation
How often do you rotate your everyday carry.
One post I read the guy said he switched every day to give all knives a chance. I thought this was great but I seem to stick with the same one's for a long time, not really giving my other spyder's a fair chance. Mind you I have a very large collection to choose from, and I love them all but when I get in the habit of carrying
a certain pair I just can't stop. Right know that pair is a SS calypso jr with sr edge and a SS dragonfly pl edge that VW made me buy. They seem to work so good together they wont give any other knives a chance.
(ANY ADVICE)

I have a few that I rotate, that being my right/front choices of carry. The others all stay the same.
I change that carry every few days, but it's always the same ones.
Somehow I have the feeling that the newest quote will be "VW made me buy it".

Right now, I carry my Dodo, an Emerson CQC-7B, and one of my Striders for EDC.
My Dodo is a strong choice for EDC, and I've carried it since I've bought it. Can't foresee that I'll give it a rest any time soon, either.
Sometimes, I give the Emerson a rest and carry my beloved Native. The Strier is an everyday item.

The working horse is (still) my modified VG-10 SE Delica (it takes about 75% of the carying time). Alternate knives are the VG-10 Calypso jr. PE and sometimes the Kershaw Chive (depending on the occasion).

I do not rotate my primary EDC knife, because I want it to be in the same place, to feel the same, and to open in exactly the same manner, each time. My second and third knives change from time to time, usually dictated by clothing type and my activity at the time. A Gunting in a sheath is my primary EDC.

I have several Spydie's in my EDC rotation. I usually rotate every 2 or 3 days.
My spydie EDC's are:
My trusty FRN CE VG-10 Endura which has probably taken the most pocket time.
A SS Kiwi as a backup in my shirt pocket when I'm at work.
A FRN PE VG-10 Native which see's a lot of weekend use.
My reliable PE SV30 Military which get's the long weekends and trips.
As for advice about rotation, it's really up to you. I feel that my EDC knives can serve on a different day. I think of it like workers on a shift. My Endura and Kiwi are the full time knives, my Native is the weekender, and my Military is the contracter who goes on the long hauls.

Hi Jeweler. My "EDC" is subject to change everyday in the morning and then also subject to change again during various times of the day depending on how I feel or as the situation changes. I like all of the knives I've bought and I try to give most of the folders some carry time.
Since I don't purposely carry a knife for self-defense, I don't need to limit myself to carrying the same knife in the same body location without deviation. So I'm free to carry knives in any pocket, in a horizontal or vertical belt sheath, around my neck, etc.
Also, since I don't know how I'm going to be using a knife 100% of the time during the day, I try to improvise and make do with whatever knife I'm carrying to perform the task at hand. I've sliced a sandwich with a plain-edged Merlin.

Sal spoiled me with the Kiwi. I was a died in the wool pocket clip guy, but since I started carrying the Kiwi it is in my pocket 5 out of 7 days. The Kiwi has become my work knife for several reasons, one being that it is sheeple friendly and secondly that the type pants I wear to work don't have pockets that like clips like jeans do.
Weekends are another matter and anything in my collection is fair game and it usually will be a much larger knife. Not for defense purposes but because I like bigger blades 3.5 and up.
Like most of us, the most recent purchase usually gets a lot of pocket time until the next new blade appears with the arrival of the brown truck.

I change when the mood strikes. Sometimes I'll carry a knife for a week or two, sometimes just for a day. I do always seem to come back to my 440v Native. And I always pair them w/a SAK or Leatherman(which also go through EDC rotations).
Current carry:SE Endura FRN and a blue Swisschamp. While I was on leave, the Dodo and Leatherman Supertool got the most carry.

I carry at least my blue G-10 Native almost every day. I may carry others in addition but seldom substitute one for the Native. The only times I don't carry the Native is when I have to "dress up" a little. Then I carry the CF Delica or black Micarta Jess Horn II.
