i posted this in another thread about this sheath issue, and am posting it here for continuity.

the knife fell out of its sheath while i was sitting on my couch with my dogs. for the second time. this is after i sent it back in to Spyderco and asked if there was anything else they could do (eg, replace the sheath in case the one I had was defective).

i have come to the conclusion that the sheath is totally unacceptable. i would not buy this knife again, given the sheath. i am having a family friend make me a custom leather one (he's a saddle-maker), which might be the only thing that saves this knife from being sold or given away. pretty disappointed.

Sorry to hear your sheath had issues. Which blade profile is your Enuff? I wonder if that makes a difference. Mine is the Leaf blade, and I carried it quite a bit camping a couple of weeks ago and had no issues with mine.

I have found that with my leaf blade Enuff, the part of the sheath that grips the knife acts as a fulcrum and the tip can wiggle inside the sheath, enabling the blade's edge to scrape against the plastic inside. I find it unsatisfactory – and unacceptable. It has actually flattened part of the edge of my knife as I tested it.

I am hoping that Spyderco will come out with a retrofit sheath. Otherwise I'm going to have to come up with a homemade kydex one that probably won't be as nice looking, and will be a pain in the neck to make.

In another thread, I posted pics and details about a kydex belt sheath I made recently for my Enuff. It came out great, actually; I'm very pleased with it. I have no further use for the plastic sheath that came with the knife, which, I'm sorry, fails to represent Spyderco quality.

At this point, I am in need of a better kydex press setup than what I have, and that's really all that stands between me and being willing/able to make more such sheaths. I feel for the people who have specimens they aren't happy with or can't rely on, who can't make sheaths of their own. When I bought a supply of kydex and rivets and a rivet press etc. a few years ago it was specifically because I was tired of acquiring knives I loved that came with sheaths I deplored. I was compelled to make my own.
