I'm usually not too picky about clips but I'm inclined to agree for this one. Won't stop me from buying one by any means but a wire clip would be nice

The pictures of the Domino don't really do it justice - it feels quite a bit smaller in hand than it looks. I mentioned in another post that the first time I picked it up, it reminded me of the Sage. Everything fit in my hand perfectly. The flipper felt like a natural part of the knife. I sorta liked it when looking at the Amsterdam pics - but after handling it at Blade, I'm in love.

P.S. - I agree that it needs a wire clip.

I never fell "in love" with this one for some reason. I think that it looks fine, but nothing
gave me that wow factor that I have to have it. And besides, the cost will be high and
I'd have to grind that flipper off as soon as I got it home.
I do think that it will be popular though.

I agree that the clip looks odd...but am VERY glad that it isn't a wire clip. Hopefully after the ugliness that is the Techno they have learned not to put wire clips on Ti.

As for the overall knife...I'm a little bit Meh about it. If it had a better blade to handle ratio, and that choil that moved way back into the handle...then yes, I would buy it for sure. But as it stands...it probably isn't for me.

It is smaller than I initially thought (as I stated in another thread recently), but I think I can talk myself into trying it.

Wish blade was more like 3.75 but this will do. I think its gonna be pretty close to blade perfection, now I just need to sell a kidney!

I think its size should move back up towards the 3.53in range.

I don't get the choice of clip/lanyard combo on this knife. Why not use the combo clip wit the hole through it just like the one on the Native right next to it? It would look a lot cleaner. Beyond that I think for the price that this one is going to fetch, I'm definitely going to need to handle it before I buy.
I think the lanyard hole is designed to be bigger than the hole in that style clip would allow for.

I dunno they look pretty much identical to me. If this were true, the increase in size has to be so ridiculously small that to me it cost you more in design flaw than you gain in functionality. Look at those two holes...they're either identical in size or so close that they should've just made it the size of the Native's so they could use that clip and make the butt of the knife way more clean in appearance.

I agree about the size of the hole, but if you look at where the hole is positioned on the Domino, it's very close to the edge of the handle. The Native clip (with hole) would hang half way off the edge of the handle.

This makes sense to me. Also, I like how the Domino clip is set at more of an angle. I think that sits in the pocket way better. Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

Yeah I get that, I'm just saying as a whole the design could be better, the location of the lanyard hole could/should be moved to allow that clip to be used. The only reason I can think of is that the blade may come too close to where the tube would end up being for that to happen. In that case, I would just tweak the shape of the butt of the handle and make it possible.

It's still a prototype, no?

Looks like a Sage, to me... which is a huge plus.

I'll reserve any deeper judgement til I have one in hand... (Teds observations are making me anxious, though!)

As far as blade length, I'd take 3.25
Good, still compact folder.

+1

As for the clip resting on the lockbar as someone mentioned-- yes please, its an automatic overextension block, and aesthetically sound. Its so obvious a thing to do IMHO there must be a specific reason they avoid it. It is especially visually uncomfortable on the techno, aside from the fact its 'WOT' (wireclip on titanium) its like two kids at a grade 8 dance...

Here's the video Mr. Blonde posted back in January:
Mr Blonde wrote:The Domino prototype was one of my favorites. The flipper-action was really smooth and the opening hole was better to use than on the Southard for example. The profile reminds me of the Manix; it is about the same size and has the same great ergonomics. This one is definitely on my wishlist. Note that the handle material is a glass woven laminate over G-10, not carbon fiber. Eric mentions the clip being right-hand only, but you can see that the handle seems to be drilled for a 4-way clip. I’ll check it out further at the upcoming Amsterdam Meet.

After watching the video I think we all thought it was bigger than it is. That one looks like the one in the pics.
