Is the S30V Millie worth what it costs.... I heard all the hype about the S30V Native but I wanted something with more "beef" I think ... well atleast form what I have heard form this forum that the Millie has the "Beef" I want... plus I do not own a knife in the S30V steel.

Hydraulicman,
Welcome to the <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> Forum! To answer your question about the Military, I can definitely suggest it as a work horse. The Military has several aspects to it that make it a wonderful knife. Let's start with the S30V Steel. This is an improvement in steel on the blade from the previous version. CPM440V Steel is a great steel. Edge retention is remarkably nice. But one of the things that I was concerned with was the corrosion resistance qualities of CPM440V. Then comes the CPMS30V. Its corrosion resistance and edge retention are better than 440V. You may have read this on other folk's posts, but the 440V steel is a little harder to sharpen for the beginner sharpener (I'm just a beginner) than other steels.

Then comes the handle. G-10 handles are wonderful. Gripping is incredible. You can't get that with Stainless Steel handles. Despite the size of many people's hands (mine are smaller than the average man's, I blame this on my parents...just kidding) large or small, the handle is contoured to fit everyone.

The nested liner lock is one of the nicest out there in the area of lock strength. As time goes on after repeated opening and closing, the lock is self correcting. This means a tight lock each and every time.

You'll see people beam about the Millie. And for good reason. Am I partial because I work for Spyderco? Probably. But, I think the knife speaks for itself.

TQ
