Will Citrus bleach G10?

#1

Post by Googz »

Hi,

Used my lionspy to make first cuts in oranges for juicing and now the g10 is no longer 100% black it is much more noticeable in person. I tried to clean it but nothing it looks like it is permanent. I was eventually going to sell it for to purchase asouthard but I think I ruined the value.

Doubt it would bleach it, but it may clean the surface to the point where it's less reflective, so it looks duller/lighter. Try wiping it down with WD-40, or something similar, see if that restores the color.

I have tried stripping the color off of the digicam G-10 before with acetone and paint thinners to no avail. I don't think any discoloration is permanent. My Polive 3 did this after slicing lots of citrus and it did need a good oil wipe down to restore the color.

Try wiping it down with mineral oil, and then rub as much off as you can and let it dry. This will restore the color good as new. I have used this trick many times after grinding G10 and getting the whitish finish after grinding it.
