I would say the exact opposite. Sabers look tougher and may help you from breaking something if you're into prying, but those are about the only advantages I see. Sabre grinds are much more obtuse and have to move material out of their way much more abruptly. Try a FFG and a saber blade back-to-back cutting cardboard or apples or anything else that the blade goes completely through.
