Did you ever wish you reacted a little quicker

Than a tortoise in my case. For instance I can't believe it took me so long to discover the Manix2 and now all the sprints are out of my league. I did the same with the Para 2 ... and with the same results.

In both cases I kept reading how great these knives are on the forums but having never handled them I just didn't get it. Then I bought them and quickly realized why all the excitement and that the coconscious of the forum was likely a pretty good indication I was missing out.

Anyone else kind of feel like you kind of fell a sleep at the switch a couple of times?

It was time several years ago, when I was chasing some discontinue models and I was wishing that I would get into Spyderco much earlier in my life. But sooner or later I either got what I wanted or at least had opportunity to get, so I do not feel this way anymore. I am enjoying the knives, which I currently carry and I enjoyed the knives I carried before.

Yeah, I did the same with the Military. I had always put off buying one because I didn't really feel the need for a 4" folder. I finally bought one a couple of weeks ago and now I get why people love them so much. I hate that I have missed out on all the sprints that have come and gone. D'oh!! I really, really wish I hadn't missed the boat on the M4 Millie, but I'm hoping I can at least get a Cruwear model as consolation.

Your right and I enjoy every knife I have. I think if ever do come across a sprint that I like at a price I can afford that I will know with certainty that I will like it. That was probably part of the problem (for me anyway) I kind of need to test the waters with a regular production knife before I jump in with both feet.

True. I felt this way aboit many older models. The manix was one that I immediately had to have and the sprints followed, but the search for Jess Horns, Caly Jrs, Kiwi lockbcks, etc. took some patience. I say keep an eye out and you will see them sooner or later.

I got into Superleaves and Breeden Rescues just as they got discontinued... so if I got into them sooner I would have paid more for mine! :)

Pretty much why I'm stock piling cash and might just buy at least one of every sprint that cones out in a knife that I like. I figure I can always get what I paid back out later if I don't love it. I've missed quite a few and sorely regret it because I won't pay secondary market prices. I paid about $45 over street price for my 20CP Para 2 and was lucky enough to have a guy sell me my M4 Manix 2 for what he paid in street price. I would love to have a M4 Military but not for what they sell for.

Those are great prices you can't beat that for the M4, that was a nice score. Things do come along that's fore sure but I am going to be a little more vigilant from now forward.

I'm with Roman, one of my biggest grail I've seen for some pretty awesome prices that I've passed on. I think I just don't want it any more.

I've had my eye on a Calypso, which have been selling for around $300, and the sprint allowed me to pick one up for $130ish.

I do have plenty of stuff that is amazing, and all I need is a thread like this one to remind me of some of the stuff I have.

I didn't truly discover Spyderco until the late 2000's. So...yea, I totally understand. :o

My only real regret is that I once had to give up purchasing knives for a few years (from about '05 until '09) due to financial limitations (a.k.a. college loans :( ). Because of that, I missed out on many truly spectacular models, such as the original Dodo, Yojimbo I, ATR, Lil' Temperance, Lava, Lum Tanto FB, Scorpius, Spot, and Swick, to name a few. But, as Roman pointed out, I too have been very fortunate to have had some opportunities to pick up some of the earlier models at one time or the other. So, I can't complain too loudly. ;)

I have all of the Spyderco CPM-M4 knives except for the M4 Military. I was surprised at just how high the prices go for these.

My only regret was getting laid off right before the Spyderco Factory Outlet seconds sale, and having to put down several outstanding knives, including a Para 2 in Carbon Fiber, because they just weren't in the budget.

That Para-2 was cheap too :(

Then again, I did still walk out with a manix 2 XL for twenty bucks :D
