By my calculations, that works out to $149.97, or thereabouts. That announcement also gives the specs, shipping costs, and information on when/how the "go live" date will be announced.
OMG WTF this is an outrage! They're scalping us $10 more than what this one forum thread quoted me!

lol.

Is it just me or does the ending price seem like a smoking deal for this steel? I'm not familiar with any other knives that have ever been made in this steel that are anywhere near this price except for the Kershaw Ken Onion Shallot Model 1840110V, and the only price I can find as a reference was $90 back in '11, and I'm not sure if that was the going price at the time or not and don't know what MSRP was for it. It's probably too early but I'm crossing my fingers for a S110V Para 2 and/or Manix 2 sprint.

I don't sharpen my teeth, I think they are designed more to mash stuff up.

I guess it hasn't bothered me enough to make a post about it in the support forum, but I've noticed that sometimes when I am online right at midnight (Central Time) there seems to be a chron job that kicks off or something, and the forum gets unresponsive. I haven't tried accessing super-early in the morning, but it could be either another chron job or just everybody waking up and getting online right then? Personally I think it should be illegal to require anyone to be awake that early :D . I'm a night person.

Regarding your other questions, I think The Deacon steered you towards Kristi's post with the price announcement. I have no experience with S110V, but I'm looking forward to trying it!

S110V is a VERY high carbide steel. Super high wear resistance. Excellent corrosion resistance. Capable of being hardened VERY hard and at VERY hard, can hold an edge a long time. Whether or not that makes it "top notch" is kinda up to you. Some like it, some (I guess?) don't. Some may find to too hard to sharpen. Others don't like big chunks of carbide is their steel(?). If you're an S90V fan, you'll probably like it.

I seem to have some trouble adding my account, but I reckon that can be fixed.

What's a chron job? My problem is that I'm a night person. Today I got up at 6:30pm (10:30pm EST). Went to bed yesterday at 10:30am (12:30pm EST). I did try opening in a different tab and the same thing happened over and over and over and over. Didn't try a different browser. I could still access threads to read. Finally gave up and did other things for an hour or two and when I came back to post the post went through right away.

Per threads on this steel here and on bladeforum, S110V if done to proper hardness is an incredible steel; if not hardened enough it is just mediocre. I hope Spyderco can do it justice.

Sorry, I was using Linux server terminology. A chron job is a "scheduled" task, such as an automated backup that kicks off at a certain time. Sorry you are having connection issues when you try to post at that hour. It might be worth trying a different browser, but I don't know if that would make a difference.

As long as it doesn't get in the way of you ordering the forum knife when the time comes :D or cause you to have duplicate orders :) . I think the SFO store is on a different server from the forum.

It depends on the HT; there's a discussion on BF about the ZT 560CBCF S110V knife, but the HT is flawed. The S110V cutting edge is only Rc = 58-59 due to its san mai construction. S100v can be HT to at least Rc 62. I don't think I can post a link to another forum. Hopefully since the forum blade is pure S110V, there shouldn't be this limitation. The 560CBCF san mai blade sure is pretty though.

Hey, if a cron job can cause the server to duplicate my forum knife order, I'm in! Let the cron job run! ;)

I think conjecture is that the S110V Native may come in around 60 Rc. Getting higher hardness is tough to do in a production process. The 58-59 Rc on the ZT560CBCF isn't that bad (esp if yours comes in around 59) and might even be desirable on a 4mm blade on a big, heavy, production knife if you actually use it.

One thing I have come to realize is Spyderco always seems to nail the heat treat and they won't release something until its right. My understanding is the ideal RC for 110v is 60-61 and I bet Spyderco hits that number. What RC is the S90V on the southfork coming in at?

Nothing more, Tony. Just what we already had. Hopefully an announcement is coming soon.

And you know, if it's delayed a bit to get it to a hardness of, say, 63, I'm okay with that ;)
