My new Goddard

#1

Post by sgteldridge »

Got my Goddard in yesterday and I love it. On a few threads I have noticed people running there cake hole about they dont like the color, no washers or liners. Well if this would have came out in 1997 I would have carried this knife my whole Army career. I looks awesome and it feels great.

That's a good looking knife. Bit too big for me to edc. Would love a Jr sprint of this. FFG or sabre grind and FRN would be cool - micarta even better...

Mine just arrived, and yes, it's big. Bigger than I expected. When closed, it's almost as large as a Military. But it's very well made and I'm glad to have it.

the more I see this the more strangely tempted I am to order. Even though I own an original, plain edge, lightweight goddard. And frankly I really dislike the tip up carry on a knife with a handle this long. Still a great knife. And that flat ground vg10 could definitely be an improvement to the hollow ground ats55, though I do prefer the aesthetics of the hollow/saber grind.

I have a question, other than the sprint aspect, why is this knife more than an Endura? I handled one today and it is lighter, but without the 4 way clip and liners, I don't get the mark up vs Endura. That said, I might still get one but do wish it had better than VG10 and I would have paid more

I received the Goddard the other day. It is a very comfortable knife. If i compare it to something like the Calypso sprint; they both have the same handle length, but you get a touch more blade with the Calypso. In the comfort category the Goddard feels far better in my hand, YMMV of course.

I do really want one..but can't afford it at the moment.

If any lovely forum member wanted to buy me one and allow me to pay you at a later date, that would be so awesome of you!

Yeah, now here we go. This is me running my cake hole. :D
Why ? I scream, WHY ? Why put a PE blade on them when originaly they were CE only (maybe a few, very few in PE). I wanted PE but at the time, well
Why not keep the micarta, that beautifull linerless coloured linen micarta ? Burgundy, black & white.

I'd guess precisely because it's a low number production run that final cost would be higher than an Endura 4, which has sold a lot of units over several years.
