I haven't been on this forum for very long, but in that short time it has become less appealing to read. I understand it's a knife forum and there's a need to discuss the science behind steel, but man....it seems like the internet police show up right away and try to beat everyone down with facts and the science of metallurgy. Not very fun.

Yeh, right so instead of facts and metallurgy, we should focus on misconceptions and wrong info? :p

Would that be more fun?

I am here as a seeker of information and of FACTS about steels and knives.

I completely agree, this is a knife community, not a lawyer vs lawyer forum.

I live in VA and the climate here can be a bit humid most of the year. That being said, I have not noticed any serious issues with either of my CPM-M4 knives (AIR or GB) as well as little or no problem with Superblue (Caly 3.5) . I can see that carrying in the pocket and exerting yourself to create a sweaty environmment could cause these corrosion issues. I am usuall very attentive to my blades and don't even like to let my stainless knives get put away without a good cleaning. My brother is the polar opposite. He uses his blade and puts it away without a care until the next time he needs it and I have seen large rust spots on his 8Cr13MoV (Tenacious). I suppose it will come down to the amount of care you show your blades. Regarding the easy of sharpening, I have become addicted to carbon steels again for this reason.

I guess the people who want to spread wrong info would tend to say that...

How about we start a thread in off topic about Facts vs. Wrong info and stop hijacking this thread?

Science and facts are great, but this isn't a text book it's an internet forum for general discussion about Spyderco knives. I'm not saying opinion should take precedence over fact, but people should be allowed to share an opinion without being shouted down.

Also, there's more than one way to correct misconceptions and wrong information...

My GB is well used as a work knife(it was my primary folder when we were constructing my house) and it really didn't get the care it deserved. I has quite a few rust spots but it's still one of my best performing knives.

Gonna have to agree with Chuck on this one. You have to understand that what we happens even more than "internet policing" is people with the wrong facts and wrong info spreading it around to people who would believe it as fact if someone didn't step in and set them straight. There are some forums where that kind of behavior can be annoying, but when you're dealing with right vs. incorrect information, I'll take the policing over ignorance any day. Plus, if you read enough you just might learn something.

You're probably right, Chuck. I own two of those three, but I haven't used either enough to really have much of an opinion. Sad, because I really like both knives, but when I carry a Manix, I carry M4 not S90V and I never carry any of my PM2s.... sigh ;) Still need something in M390 at some point.

I'm with CarbonfiberNut, it's tough to define "best" without prioritizing features. Although, without taking corrosion into consideration M4 is pretty awesome and when Spyderco uses it the price bracket isn't insane. Relatively hard/strong, tough, easy enough to sharpen, etc.

As for [ENFORCER], while I can't agree with a thing he's said I do appreciate his use of brackets. I adore punctuation.

Sorry no, just a regular wood mounted leather strop loaded with 14u diamond paste.

You're observant. :D

I carry it left front pocket.

I really like M390 since it's a stainless that most resembles M4 for me. Easy to sharpen but with magic wear resistance. :)

Most people disagree with me, but usually it just proves they're wrong.

I missed the transition to the loaded area from the grain of the wood. So apparently I am not as observant as I would like ot be.

I am just used to seeing smaller knives in FL pockets. I just knew you were right handed so I assumed you had a Military on your right side.

The knife covers the transition.
