Byrd Crow in new Field & Stream

#1

Post by thog94 »

I just got my Dec-Jan issue of Field & Stream and the Crow is in there. On page 48 there is an article called Young Blades. The Crow is one of 3 knives that they recommend giving to a young new knife owner.

This is the brief write up, there was also a picture:

AGES 11-13: Spyderco Byrd Crow
A short 2.8 inch blade is stout enough to cut through a squirrel, and the jimping at the base of the blade spline helps provide control. The fat g10 scales fit smaller hands well, and the handle design incorporates indentations deep enough to serve as a finger guard.

I think the crow just got DC'd.
So many knives, so few pockets... :)

Actually the crow is being updated along with the Raven. We have good inventory of the current model. There might be a gap in delivery but we're trying to avoid it. The new version will be improved in many areas, though the basic patterns will remain the same.

Improved in what way? FFG, tweaks to the handle design, etc.?

Mostly tweaks in design. They will be improved in all areas.

I think the raven g10 is the one that is dc'd. At close out prices it looks real interesting.

Depends on how long the process takes. It's treated as a new design as far as prototyping and tooling.

Those are both good designs. I have several of each. Two I redid with g-10 scales. I look forward to seeing how the new ones turn
out.

Improved Crow!? Nice to hear. Really looking forward to the new design! The Crow is my favorite of the Byrd line up.
