I'm in. Favorite steel would have to be VG-10. Super easy to touch up, holds its edge like a champ and cheap.

Thanks for the opportunity!

I haven't really owned enough nice knives to know what good steel is, but spyderco's 8cr13mov is about the best steel I've seen in a knife I can afford

seriously, as far as cheap knives go, spyderco really knows what they're doing.

Thanks for the generous GAW. So far I am liking the 204p alot as it has taken everything I've thrown at and is not too hard to sharpen.

Niles wrote:Hello All,

Tvenuto started a thread with the idea of having a giveaway every month this year. I was the winner of his giveaway, so I'm doing March.

Up for grabs is a used but in great condition Spyderco Native III:

To enter just post below telling us what your favorite steel is and why (or if you don't know/care just post up an "I'm in"), and your post number will be your entry number. I will use Random.org to pick a number on the 31st of this month.

Though not a requirement to enter, it'd be awesome that if you win, you agree to host the giveaway for April and continue what Tvenuto has started.

Thanks to all, and good luck!

I'm in.

And totally down to host another (albeit humble) Spyderco giveaway.

I don't have a broad range of steel experience to have a clear favourite. Phil Bolger said "there is no such thing as a bad boat, just ones made for different purposes". I say there is no such thing as a bad steel, just ones that have different properties. Phil also said to "choose a boat for your waters". So choose a steel/blade well suited for your cutting tasks and your needs will be met.

Thanks for the chance.

I love s30v, great balance between ease of sharpening and edge holding, strainless enough for my environment, not super expensive.

Thanks for the giveaway!
I don't really have any fave steels yet since I don't have that many knives...so far my one and only spydie which is a serrated VG10 is quite impressive!

Now I understand and I'm in! Nice idea this "giveaway"!
I'm not a specialist about steel but I like s30v: the steel of my first good knife. I thought it was the best in the world :)

i'm in. VG-10 vs H1, I still can't decide. (honestly, I think I like H1 better, but I like my VG-10 knives better for other reasons).

Thanks for the giveaway!
