Combo edges, carbon steel blades, knives that look like they would hurt to hold.

On the other hand, if Spyderco made a right hand chisel ground knife, I would be ON that.

Tanto blades
cheap knock off knives
and lots of unwanted text/symbols across the blade.

- Poorly designed handles that are about as well thought out as mounting a blade on a block of wood, this eliminates a lot of knives right off the get go
- G10 that is too aggressive. For instance, I love some of the Emerson models but I find it hard to live with their G10 particularly when combined with a pocket clip which is either incredibly tight or too loose. It's like strapping a cheese grader to your pants. It's great to have a grippy knife and all but its also nice not to destroy a pair of pants in a week
- Poorly made locks of any type but particularly liner and frame locks, when they get those wrong they are really a mess
- The absence of a clip (other than maybe on a small slip-joint)
- Up-swept blades
- Aggressive, purposeful looking, tactical knives (mall Ninja type knives), I am more sold on quality and utility and Spyderco seems to have that covered.
- Most knives that are under 7"or larger than 8.5" but I do make some exceptions to that rule from time to time
- Combo edges I can't say I would never by one ... but I never have

I try to stay off liner/framelocks and auto/assisted openers but have several, also wooden or metal handles are very low on my list. Depending on the design I often make exceptions, lately almost exclusively :spyder: s.
Tactical, tanto and chisel grind knives are of no use for me, just as SD designs.
Spyderco`s non locking knives and combo edges are.

Excessive / rampant fanboyism and / or brand worship is more off-putting to me than features and brands of other knives. In fact, I don't dislike any competing brands. Even in Sal's own words: "all good... just different".

Boker Plus - Love some of the knife designs (but hate many of the others), but the China F&F/QC is hit or miss. More often than not it is a miss.
China Knives - Just trying to buy less China products in general.
Combo Edge Knives - Need I say more?
Plastic Handles - I want my G10!
Stainless Steel Handles - Unless it's a Bali, throw come CF scales on it.
Autos - Because the Gov. says I can't have one. (Although, I can own and carry a gun.)
Knives over $250 street price - I haven't crossed that threshold yet.

I am worried about you Ted, you are starting to think like me,
and I don't think that is necessarily a good thing.

Strider/Hinderer, combo/serated edge, non ergonomic handle, blade coatings(most times- depends on desperation to get last of blade availability/If I really have to have that cool carbon Blade-WHY???), Tanto.

Oh yeah - MADE IN CHINA - No, no, not ever

But I have learnt, never say never
