What's Your Favorite Car Chase Movie?
The French Connection, Bullitt, Gone In Sixty Seconds (original) all have awesome chase scenes, but I am a huge fan of the chase through New York in The Seven Ups.

The ones mentioned so far are all good, but Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry is still my favorite. The Driver is another one I like, and there are some excellent chase scenes in the remake of The Italian Job.

As strange as Vanishing point is I love the Challenger big block in it. I believe they used up a bunch ( 13 maybe?) of those filming. I have had a thing for a Hemi Challenger since I was a young teen. I doubt I'll ever get a new one, much less an original.
I'm also a fan of Dirty Mary and Crazy Larry though the cars and driving are what does it for me, not the over the top acting by Peter Fonda and Susan George. I always liked Vic Morrow ( Combat! ) but this wasn't his best. I drove across america and back with a 327 4bbl Impala in 79 and it was fast and fun and did things I still hesitate to talk about. :o Never have gone back to South Dakota for whatever reason. :p
The Charger in Bullit showed exactly why you don't want extra weight in your vehicle no matter how much torque and HP you can dial up. The Mustang on the other hand seemed to need some tourque for that kind of driving. The comparison to the new ones performance wise are night and day. An old army buddy has a brand new near 500 hp mustang and it's very impressive and not just in straight lines. The amazing amounts of traction the newer cars get with their lighter weights, bigger, stickier tires really can push you around in those. They don't sit and spin like an old Charger but leap forward with no fuss or muss. They get better mileage and don't make your eyes water standing next to one running in a parking lot like the old monster engines ( hemi's, rat's, etc)
Yes, "The Car" , though not a chase movie like the others is still memorable. That was one scary car. :)
Anyone remember "kill dozer " ?
