Knife Works Para2 up for preorder
The ship was supposed to have 3 tugs bringing it in and was supposed to be in Alabama today but I don't think they've made it yet. KW is on this cruise and by now they have surely had more adventure than they really wanted.Donut wrote:Maybe June is when they will be back from their disaster cruise. :p
If the preorder was up on 2-16-12 then we are only 2 days away from the 1 year anniversary. Is someone planning a party?

I'm waiting for mine. I've waited for some time, and a few more months won't matter. We have a saying here that roughly translates to "you already got wet, might as well take a bath". :D
I just hope the steel and the knife are gonna be fine. :)

LOL I love that saying!chuck_roxas45 wrote:I'm waiting for mine. I've waited for some time, and a few more months won't matter. We have a saying here that roughly translates to "you already got wet, might as well take a bath". :D

Yes, it's been a long wait, but it's not like I haven't had a knife to use while waiting :) I only paid $20 per knife deposit, and when the knife does arrive, the wait will be forgotten, everyone that didn't know about it before will be wishing they could have bought one. I like 204CP on my Southard just fine (though I don't go around cutting bricks or metal :) ) and think I will like it on a Para also.
Which Knife, A or B? get Both! (and C, D and E) :)

I know they KW guys went on a cruise, are you guys saying something happened on the cruise?

Yep, the cruise ship had mechanical problems, then an engine room fire, which caused plumbing failure, pretty miserable conditions without working toilets, lack of food, and long delay waiting for the tugboats to come rescue them and tow them to shore (in Alabama, they departed from Texas, so then they had to bus the passengers back to their cars in Texas, and one of the chartered buses broke down on the way...)chuck_roxas45 wrote:I know they KW guys went on a cruise, are you guys saying something happened on the cruise?
Instead of being refreshed from a wonderful company-paid vacation, the poor staff was all worn-out and stressed from a cruise-gone-bad.

That sure sucks to take a vacation and have it happen that way. I hope everyone is ok. Thanks for bringing me up to speed.RevDevil wrote:http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2013/fe ... -fuel-leak
BTW, it would be nice to hear from the Spyderco guys what kind of technical diffuculties they are having with the green para. Not complaining about the delay, not demanding an update, just genuinely curious about the problems.

Spyderco used the steel before, so most likely this is not a Spyderco problem, but Carpenter cannot supply them. Still, this run was announced on Spyderco website and scheduled on July 2012. $20 is not a big money, but people who pre-ordered showed their commitment. IMHO in case of significant delay like in this case out of simple respect to a customer they certainly deserve an update.

Given the time that has elapsed since the last major Para2 release, I bet some minor CQI changes have been introduced. Especially since Spyderco is probably gearing up for the fluted CF and Ti versions later this year, I bet they are tuning up their process. Maybe this is contributing to the delay.
