Need Recommendations

I want to buy my Fiance a knife for a wedding gift, and he has said before that he wants a Spyderco. Which models can you recommend for general use? Which models are the "coolest"? I am hoping to stay under $100 but will spend more if I need to.

Wow. Welcome jbouwma! I find myself very close at heart with this thread. I am at the present time waiting for my fiancees shower to end. We are getting married this Saturday. First I must commend you for trying the site and posting. I assume you approve of his knives. My fiancee does abit. Now to your question...for a good utility/genelral use you could go with the Endura, or not sure of the Military's cost but that is always a safe bet. I just got a Dodo it is very cool and cost me 124 US from Spyderco factory direct, you can get them cheaper though. Other models you could check out are: Delica, Native, Police. Well I think you get the idea there are lots. I wish you luck and commend you on getting him a knife for a gift, I know he will appreciate it. Take Care!!!

The Kiwi is a nice little knife, as is the Salsa (and it can be had in a few different colors). The SS Delica would also be an excellent choice as you could have her name engraved on the scale for her to make it more personal.

The Dodo is available for around $78 from New Graham Knives (1-866-333-4445 Toll Free). It's "cool", and going to be my next purchase.

The Native is also great, and they usually can be had for under $50. Great knife!

Go with a Military and have the date you are married engraved on the blade.That way he will not forget.

I'd suggest the Delica. It is a great knife, maybe among the best for EDC (every day carry). Not very big to raise eyebrows, yet enough to cope with any regular cutting chore. You could pick the CF (carbon fibre) model for a more exquisite look, or the SS (stainless steel) one, which is perfect for engraving / embelishment.

Didn't think about the CF Delica,I would make a great wedding gift.You can get one on ebay for around 80.00.

Geeze...I guess I need to pay closer attention to what I read...

Since the gift is for a "HIM" and not a "HER", get HIM either a stainless Endura or Police model (and have his name, etc. engraved on it), or buy him a Military model (IF he's a macho kind of guy).

I would recommend probably either a Kiwi or a Police, depending on taste. The Kiwi is a truly elegant little piece, with bone inserts- a gent's knife, in other words.

The Police is a little tougher of a piece, far larger, but posesses a brutish elegance of its own.

A knife is a wonderful gift. Be aware that knives are tools, and tools that get used, also get worn, broken, or lost. Would that upset you unduly? Also, the tradition is that you can’t give a knife to someone you care for: you have to sell it, (for 25 cents or other token price). The tradition is that giving a knife is offering to sever a relationship.

You may have to pry some information from him. If he has a small knife, get him a big one, and visa versa. My vote is for the Delica. Both the FRN or Carbon Fibre models use the VG-10 blade steel, which is excellent.

I have two suggestions. One,pick up a carbon fiber Delica if you want to get him something fancy. Or two,for $100 you could get a set of both an FRN Delica and Endura. Then he'd have two sizes to play with.
