Blue G10 Lava

#1

Post by tvenuto »

I've seen no mention of the blue G10 Lava listed on BHQs site. Did anyone actually see one at SHOT? Is it without fasteners like the stainless one? Is it smurf blue or something new? Highly interested in snagging one of these, as I missed out on them the first time, and the design looks awesome. Anyone have any info on the upcoming blue Lava sprint?

Thanks for the info, Sal. Really looking forward to this one! I need a little big knife design that I'm excited about to displace all of those big big knives that I find myself carrying nowadays.

Aloha and welcome tventuto,

Mahalo to you too! I'm looking forward to this one since I lost my Forum Lava a few years back and haven't had one to carry. :( This new Lava should be better though with the G10 scales! WooHooo!!!
Take care!

Should be a nice knife. Though smurf blue isn't my favorite, it should look pretty good on the Lava.

Need a Lava or two for my collection and this one sounds like it might be the one.

So if one is coming out in blue G-10 then will there be other Lava's coming out in different G-10 colours?

Hi Angus,

It's a sprint run. We make sprints each year and the decisions on which models to re-create are often requests from customers. We have no plans for the model beyond the current sprint.

Any word on the clip color? I'm hoping black because I think it would be the least noticeable. I'm also curious what the weight will be. Hopefully less than 2.5oz

I'm guessing the clip will be shiny stainless (haven't seen a black clip on other smurf blue G-10 models).

Good news to hear this is coming relatively soon. I don't like SS handles, so I passed on the original. This one, however, I will certainly be getting. I'm looking forward to this piece and the pictures from Amsterdam!

I missed the sprint part in the OP. My mistake. Will it be LH friendly?

It's a midlock and the Spyderhole is fully exposed so it's bound to be LH friendly. As for the clip, no way to be sure without seeing it, but the original SS version was drilled for LH carry so I can't see why they wouldn't drill the Sprint for it, considering they drill some models with wrong handed locks for it.
