Endura Wave locking issues

#1

Post by Comeuppance »

I've had an Endura Wave for a couple months now, and I bought it second-hand off the 'bay. I cleaned it thoroughly and oiled it, and carried it around for a while, and I noticed a problem fairly quickly - if you try to wave it out with much speed, the lock arm can bounce out of the tang. It sounds like it has locked open, but it is not locked at all.

I've been able to replicate the problem doing upside-down wrist flicks as well. There's nothing in the tang, nothing on the lock arm, it locks up perfectly with no play... Is there a fix for this other than deploying it less quickly? What can I do?

Try loosening the screw that holds the lockbar.

There's something I haven't tried yet - I lubricated it, but I never thought to loosen the pivot on the lock... Trying it now.

That worked for me when I had the same issue.

That seems to have helped - it still can spring back out, but much less frequently.

Edit: tightened up the pivot on the blade so it's a little stiffer to deploy. That, combined with the slightly loosened lock pivot, seems to have fixed the issue. Thanks, Chuck!

I'm glad to have helped. :)
