Keep an eye on this forum. Spyderco announces a week or two prior to release.

I saw that one... Looking for a little different metal. I have not heard much about the CTS-XHP

Unless anyone else can help out there?

I'm not much of a steel guy but I have one and find it to be quite good. I believe it is the Carpenter equivalent of S30V. If I'm wrong, I'm sure someone with more knowledge can correct me.

They usually release metals that are almost unknown. XHP is fairly well known with a few Spydies that are already using (or have used) it. Dig around a bit; it's pretty adored. :)

There's always The Big Auction Site and the B/S/T fora, but prices will range from high to stratospheric.

Any thought to what would be better:
The current mule or
M390 or
Super blue
Or cruwear
Or Elmax??
I have found each wondering what to get

I have the C-36 Military model with CTS-XHP blade steel and it is now one of my favorite folders. Personally from my limited use of it and what I've read about XHP steel I think it's good stuff myself. I wish I had the $$ freed up because I would get one of the Mules with the XHP steel in a heartbeat. But just be patient I'm sure some of the past models that they've made or even a newer one will hit the market soon.

Here is a link to Carpenter's page on CTS-XHP: http://www.cartech.com/ssalloysprod.aspx?id=3710, where they describe XHP as an:
Air hardening, high carbon, high chromium, corrosion resistant alloy which can be described as either a high hardness Type 440C stainless steel or a corrosion resistant D2 tool steel. Possesses corrosion resistance equivalent to Type 440C stainless but can attain a maximum hardness of 64 HRC, approaching that of D2 tool steel.
Most people on the forums will describe XHP like a more corrosion resistant D2. I haven't personally used either.
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.

Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.
