Welcome!
I've only applied oil after getting the knife, and when it gets so dirty that I've got to wash it and dry it. Feel free to do it whenever you like, but its not something that has to be done every few weeks. If you feel like the pivot is getting gritty or the knife is harder to open and close, a good rinse and oil should take care of it.

welcome to the forum. Ballistol is useable for knives ( if you can stand the odour), but try to apply the barest minimum of coating, just barely enough to place a thin film on the steel. Balistol has been used for a long time. German soldiers in WWI even used it for medicinal uses. Remember that ballistol in contact with water makes a white emulsion. I think other lubricants are better suited for a EDC carry knife. I use Tuff-glide.
If you are planning on using your knife on food products you can always use plain mineral oil from the pharmacy (cheap).
And welcome to the forum. There are a lot of European collectors in this forum some even speak dutch ( maar dan kunnen de Amerikanen het niet lezen).

It's better to be judged by 12 than to be carried by 6

We typically recommend oiling a knife about once a month, and this is about how often I oil the knives which I carry every day. I have free access to a particular brand's blue-colored lubricant, so that's what I use.filardhimuhyi wrote:i have a question, this might be off topic but i cant seem get an answer anywhere....how many times should i appy an oil on knive?? i just bought ballistol oil here...
It's also a good idea to clean your knife if you ever notice any grit in the pivot, and keep it clear of pocket lint as much as possible.
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.
Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.
