Southard pocket friendliness?

#1

Post by Brock O Lee »

Question to owners: Do the lockbar cut-outs near the pocket clip cause any snagging when you insert or remove the knife from a pocket?

Never experienced any snagging of the cut-outs, I carry it always in the right back pocket.

Hopefully I'll know tonight when I get home. I hear I have mail.
...I have no knives I keep in a safe but there are one or two that don't leave the house...

That hasn't caused me any problems. I usually don't like to carry flippers tip up because the flipper gets in the way when in the pocket. But so far, the Southard carries just fine.

Hey Hans,
I've had no problems with snagging. I carry the Southard in my rfp.
I added a fob just for sh** and giggles, but there's no problem removing it from the pocket either way.

I never had that issue with mine. Actually mine comes out of the pocket so smoothly, it makes me a little nervous.

No problems here. It carries nicely and slides in and out with no issues. The clip rides over the smooth part so there is no snagging. It still feels secure enough to me and I don't think it will rip up pants like a knife with G-10 on both sides would.

Thanks for the replies.... Glad to hear there are no issues.

I know some framelocks are prone to snagging, especially if the pocket clip pinches the pocket fabric on the lockbar cut-out. Looks like the Southard's clip pinches on the smooth scale next to the cutout, which avoids the problem, according to the replies.
