My first Spyderco: a Chinook

I was so close to having enough money saved for my first Spyderco and out of the blue my dad up and buys me one.



I was saving for a Chinook and he heard about it. So, he got it for me as a college graduation gift.



Hopefully it will be here soon. Anything you pros think I should know about my new tool?



I will probably use the money I have saved for a Native, Native 3-D, Endura, or Delica. I haven't decided yet. I can easily see Spydercos becoming an obsession.

Welcome to the forum. The Chinook for a first <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> knife. WOW. I have no experience with it but next you can go for the S30V Native. I alot of people like the Native III, but I just can't get used to it.

You might want to save your money for medical supplies, because the Chinook is the sharpest Spyderco I ever had <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0><img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>
Great first choice, but beware, all other Spydies you will get after this will feel very small and very light.

The Chinook is one tough blade. I think you could cut a tank open with it if you wanted to. <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> Enjoy that new knife, and welcome to the <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> club. The Chinook won't be alone for long.
I always thought that a Toad and Chinook would make a great carry combo.

You are right, it won't be alone long. I found an experamental Navigator with G-10 and a Spyderedge blade, that is beckoning me. It would probably look real nice next to the Chinook.

Then i'll probably need something even smaller like a Meerkat. And so on and so on... The list is endless.
