C01 Worker sprint run?
So glad you showed up, Sal. :) I would be using it for sure. VG10 sounds perfect. G10, carbon fiber, aluminum, titanium... I'll buy any of those. Not Damascus. There are a lot of people that need to try this classic out, like me. No wire clip for this one, in my opinion. Quite excited!

I agree, thanks for bringing this up.crackedskulla wrote:whatever materials you decide on, please give the worker an adjustable pivot. i love the design, but would be so afraid to use it if it had a pinned pivot

They don't do FRN handles on anything they aren't absolutely sure will sell in large quantities since the cost of molds is prohibitive otherwise. Titanium (like on the new delica), G10, or CF handles are probably safest. Personally, I think it would look cool with that nishijin CF they've been sticking on a few of the Japanese sprints.kennethsime wrote:Towards this end, the ideal configuration would be VG-10 with FRN handles. Stainless handles might be acceptable, in keeping with the original.
ARISE, Ancient Thread!! (Thunderbolts and Lightning, very very frightening...)
I seem to be dredging up some older threadsas of late, since I tend to be reading the older stuff on things that matter to me. But, I just found this gem of a thread and have to add my peace!
I HIGHLY agree on bringing a Worker back to see the sunlight again, in whatever form it may be. In my mind, the latest super steels that are used are great, but we all know that they add to the price, as does Carbon Fiber and Titanium. So, I say stick with a less flamboyant, but hard use steel. (I still love the GIN-1, though!!!)
My opinion is to do it in G10 handles, and VG-10 or S30V for the blade. I wouldn't go for a "look at me!" color in the G10, either.
I think that a re-release would be a hit with a price point of about $125, to be the affordable model that it should be. There are lots of new Spyderco fans who are loving the high end collaborations and models, but surely the price of the Fluted Ti Native/ Military, as an example, is rather high for a good majority of folks.
Keep the price lower, and the availability high, and sell them in numbers. I know I would be down for at least 3, for sure, at an affordable price point.
That's not to say that one done with all the bells and whistles wouldn't be AWESOME either, but probably one that is used less often and ogled at more!
Thanks for reading, and chime in with your 2 bits!

Got GIN-1?
Got GIN-1?
Cheaper the better there are a lot of greT sprints in high quality of knives I wanna try but just not feasible. Spyderco has all kinds of collectors and I'd be willing to sacrifice top notch materials for a shot at a legend like the worker. What do I know I can tell you not much lol or I would of avoided getting bit in the first place dang expensive hobbie lol
