well its done-

my mind is flooding with memories -all good- he was that good a dog that the local dog catcher would take him around in the front of her truck instead of in a cage in the back -she passed a few years ago so she can watch out for him till i arrive

So sad buddy, I had two that I had to put down in pretty close succession a few years back and even though they were both jack asses at times they stole my heart. I didn't get a dog again for a number of years just because I didn't want to have to go through that type of sadness again. I feel for you.

This really tugs at my heartstrings, I'm with you and very sorry for your loss -- I just had to put a very sweet and beloved pet of my own down just a couple of weeks back.

Incredibly tough.

I am of the belief that we bequeath the love and goodness we foster within our pets unto another far better place where they wait for us to join them someday.

May 2013 be a better year for us all -- two and four legged creations and legacies of a loving God.

Be Well, My Friend --

-- Bruce

I lost my dog this year as well. I feel for you, and know you did the right thing.

Sorry to hear mate.
Our old dog left us in a similar manner in 1996 & your thread here just jerked that back to the surface of my emotions.
The attatchments are so great when they have been loving loyal & never judged you, even though I did get the occasional bad look. Also the way she would look at me out of the corner of that little black triangular bull terrier eye like she was a superior being. That dog took us through so many lessons & was a rock for my wife to rebuild her life on after a crushing bereavment. She lives on in the terrier strength & determination of my wife.
After all these years she still comes into my dreams sometimes & the hunt is on.
A white flash covered in pink scars from a life of fearlessness & total commitment.

Sorry for your loss.

Should old acquaintance be forgot,
and never brought to mind ?
Should old acquaintance be forgot,
and old lang syne ?

For auld lang syne, my dear,
for auld lang syne,
we'll take a cup of kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.
And surely you’ll buy your pint cup !
and surely I’ll buy mine !
And we'll take a cup o’ kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.

We two have run about the slopes,
and picked the daisies fine ;
But we’ve wandered many a weary foot,
since auld lang syne.

We two have paddled in the stream,
from morning sun till dine† ;
But seas between us broad have roared
since auld lang syne.

And there’s a hand my trusty friend !
And give us a hand o’ thine !
And we’ll take a right good-will draught,
for auld lang syne.
