What's your most useful Spydie?

#1

Post by tr4022 »

Please define "useful" any way you want: Most directly applicable to your work or avocation. Most useful for a wide variety of applications. The one that has held up the best for you. Whatever. I hope this post gets a lot of responses; I'm very interested in what all of you think.

SE D'fly Salt. It's convenient to carry, and it cuts like a beast.

If "most useful" means the number of things cut by the knife over a given period - I'd have to say either my 20CP Paramilitary 2 or my ZDP-189 Dragonfly 2. One or both are in my pocket/briefcase/backpack more days than not...

Spyderco Jester G10 Sprint. I can carry it **** near everywhere, it doesn't scare NKP, and it's usually enough to get the job done :D

Also it's adorable ▂▅▇█▓▒░◕‿‿◕░▒▓█▇▅▂

CF Dragonfly.

It left with the ex-wife. Best money ever spent on a Spyderco. I miss that knife.

I find I have little use for curved blades. I could probably get by on nothing but a Yojimbo 2 for most of my EDC needs. It's been forever since I skinned an animal. The only thing a curved blade gets me is a longer edge.

Para 2 m390 reground to 0.007 behind the edge. Cuts better than all my other spydies, reground csuperblue caly coming second (0.011) . These are ny most useful as they cut the best and hold the longest edge of my spydies. Most useful thing for multiple applications that I edc is my victorinox minichamp.

I couldn't define that as when I'm admiring my Elmax mule that is the most useful in terms of appreciating its beauty and its function.
The spydie I use most is a ps tenacious but out of all I've brought and I'm hanging my head the one that gets used the most is the bug my wife stole.
She is non knifey despite being around my collection she still flinches when I use some of my bigger blades despite never having cut myself badly with anything other than a kitchen knife not counting a chainsaw.
But she uses it everyday several x a day I tried to get her into a grasshopper but she says it does the job ... Fair enough.

Salt 1 PE gets used a ton at work. I rotate a lot at home, but they don't see much use compared to the Salt, and I love it.

- best wishes, Jazz.

Thanks for the great replies, gentlemen. I appreciate it, escpecially since I post on the wrong forum! I expected an interesting range of replies and wasn't let down. I guess the Spydie I find most useful is the yellow Tasman I use to work in the yard. Or maybe it's the JD Smith that's been relegated to kitchen utility knife. Wait, what about the Centofante 3 I constantly whip out (discretely) at restaurants because their knives are so dull? And then there's....
