Eh. Who wants to wear a brand new cardboard stiff pair of jeans anyways? Worn jeans have character. Most of my jeans have the denim completely worn and separated from the pocket. One way I combat this is to iron on a patch over the lip of the pocket from the outside folded over into the pocket. It works great.

The Carhartt and Kuhl brand pants wear much much less, but these are the most comfortable. Believe it or not, the thighs and knees wear out faster than the back pockets.

I'm a diehard Levi guy, but I must admit the one and only pair of American Eagle jeans i've had were crazy comfortable. I just can't stand going into those stores.

Thanks for the excellent replies with some great info. Love the pics. Makes my problem seem trivial. A few things that resonate...I need to buy better quality jeans. Old Navy at $15 a pair on sale gave me what I paid for...cheap jeans. I need to buy better quality. I also happen to like playing with my knife, more than actually using it, so it is in and out of my pocket a lot. I don't want to mess with the scales though. I'd probably ruin the beauty of the knife. And, worn jeans are very much in style these days. Most of the stuff they sell new today would be in the rag bag when I was younger.

The Carhartt lightweights are a nice compromise between expensive and cheap, between soft / comfortable and durable. They averave around $30 and come in a great array of colors. Tractor Supply has them around here.

Haven't they always been?

I was laughing at exceptnl's post...first thing I thought was "Dude! Buy more than three pair of jeans!"

That's very funny. Those are my favorites and are out of the daily wear rotation due to worn spots in inappropriate places. The wife will not let me wear them outside of my own yard. If they were not so comfortable they wouldn't have worn out so fast.

Know THAT feeling all too well...wait until you have the teenage daughter...you'll catch it from BOTH sides.

In my case, the wife "conveniently" cleaned my closet out every time I deployed...heartbreaking...

Tobii, I was not offended. I knew it was in good humor. The three pairs you see are normally stored down in the garage (man cave) away from the reaches of my better half.

I carry the knife clipless, with additional pouch (standard cheap nylon ones) to prevent wear on my pants & keep the knife stays in place (put them all into the PDA in-pocket partition).

Bought exactly the slacks that have this PDA in-pocket partition, problem solved :)

Are those the Riggs by Wrangler? I love those for work. A bit pricey, but they last me at least a year and a half. As opposed to Levi's and Carhart..
@OP. Old Navy jeans are the first thing I'd change. Thin denim.
